Corran Horn is making an appearance in my game, and this is my attempt at translating his family's heritage into D6 terms. Let me know what you think.
Halcyon Bloodline: Members of this bloodline are normally incapable of using the Telekinesis power, or any powers for which it is a requirement. The character may spend a Force Point for the ability to use such powers for the remainder of the round, although the dice rolls for such powers are not doubled. However, whenever a member of this bloodline uses the power Affect Mind, or any power which it is a requirement for, any character point spent to improve the Force skill roll are treated as though 2 character points were spent. |

So the Jedi still trains the telekinetic power without being able to use it? _________________ Random is who random does... |

Looks good, but I would probably just do something along the lines of "-5D to TK and +2D to Affect Mind" to make it easier.
feel free to modify those numbers, but then the user needs 2D+2 TK to even try to use it with a FP, and always easier to Affect Mind _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I look at it this way, they understand the concept behind the Telekinesis power, they just don't quite understand how to use it. I got the inspiration behind the pluses and minuses from the Cortex system (it takes a lot of cues from D6).
I didn't want to penalize the Alter skill, since there are powers (like Affect Mind) that still require the Alter skill. That, and the straight-up penalty doesn't really reflect the few times that Corran has been able to use Telekinesis in the books, it's usually a huge and momentous occasion, hence he needed to spend a Force Point to do it, I may add in a line about not getting this Force Point back at the end of the game, regardless of when it was used. |

As I recall wasn't Coran able to use telekinetic powers after he'd used absorb/disipate energy?
It's been a while since I read the books but I think it was explained that the energy he absorbed he was able to redirect into telekinetic applications. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

that is a matter of much debate, it wasnt so much absorb/dissapate... as just absorb and reuse
so lets say you absorb 5D worth of damage, you can make tk with +5D? (which would work with my system btw ) _________________ The Vong have Arrived

I cannot remember where i saw this, but here is one i have seen to 'represent' the Halcyon blood line.
A member of the Halcyon bloodline is stronger in affect mind than his 'natural aptitude would indicate, but is consequentially weaker in telekinesis. In fact he cannot use TK until and unless he has absorbed some energy.
When using affect mind, compute his dice rolls as if he was suffering NO multiple action penalties for using a 3 power force skill. (which in a way equates to adding +2d to each one). When using TK he must first have absorb/dissipated some energy. For every 5 points of damage so absorbed, he gains 1d to his 'TK rating'. This lasts for 1 combat round per D he normally has in Alter. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I'd have to go back and reread "I, Jedi" but I seem to recall the same thing. In that Hutt's place, Corran absorbed a ridiculous amount of energy and redirected it towards doing things he normally can't. And if memory serves it nearly killed him. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

I recall him saying that if the demolitions expert had gone for a slightly larger quantity of explosive he'd never have survived. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Perhaps that was the 'writers way of showing that he barely made his roll for absorb/dis energy. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Sadly most writers I've read don't think in terms of how situations can be adapted for D6 Star Wars :p _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.
