In an earlier campaign (where I was a player) we had IG88 dogging our tail for a long time. It showed up a few times, being a rock hard Assassin droid that took on an entire group of experienced and tooled up rebels. I guess our GM had read about him in the books, but didnt have the stats or just made them up anyway, as by the official stats hes a bit of a pushover for experinced characters with some wargear.. Also, there seems to be little consistency regarding stats for droids/equipment/weapons in the D6 sources. For example IG88 is supposed to be at the top end when it comes to assassin droids, but statwise hes at best at the top end of the middle class.
What would appropriate stats for IG88 (and similar) be? Anyone have their own versions of this or similar droids? Are there any other mechanics to use instead of only relying on badass stats? |

an assassin droid can be a real pain if played out correctly.
use hit locations, and droids get nasty. blown off arm, no prob. droids do not suffer from shock. no penalties to return fire with remaining components.
built in weapons, like grenade launchers, rockets, blasters, etc should make things interesting.
if you want to make it really bad they use tear gas canisters
assassin droids are sore losers. they will self destruct if they lose and try to take you with them... _________________ D&D 5e DM and WEG Star Wars GM for two kids who will hopefully carry on with RPGs for years to come

On a related note, do GMs run damage on droids as characters or as equipment?
The latter can make droids a lot harder to take down. |

I also usually allow for an assassin droid to fire all of its availible weapons (for example one laser cannon in each arm) against the same target as one action per shot. |

I use whatever makes it more challenging for my players. In this case, equipment because honestly, a droid is a piece of equipment.
One of the big things I've done with an assassin droid in the past that I've tossed at players is I was smart enough to think ahead and put some "Reinforcement" armor plates to more or less absorb most of the ionization effects of things like ion grenades and equivalent blasters.
Really irritated the player who smuggles in a little bit of everything.
"There's a droid with a gun coming towards your team"
"I thrown an ion grenade"
"Ok, he absorbs it, what do you do now as he fires a few shots and misses as he gets closer?"
gathered players all start sweating... |

If my players are stupid enough to think an Assassin Droid aint resistant to ionization they deserve to die in a hail of blaster bolts.. |

Can ion grenades fry other ion grenades?
I can image a killer droid with built in grenade launchers. First it fires a ion grenade to fry droids, droid poppers, communications, and weapon. The it starts with the lethal stuff. |

Forgive me fo being late, but I just had this idea for an NPC...
Imagine an assassin droid that got reprogrammed with a complately new set of skills. All its combat abilities get replaced with... Medical expertese! Its personality, however, (which would be somewhere along the lines of HK-47) remains largely unchanged. So what do we get? Dr. House, the medical droid, anyone? _________________ Plagiarize!
