In the final novel of the legacy of the force, we learn that not only did Mace windu have this strange and supposedly rare force power, but so did luke, Jacen and Jaina.
Has anyone seen stats for the power, or come up with ones of their own?

For the benefit of those of us who haven't read the book, would you mind describing it, or providing a link to a site that does?

just looking at it quick, my initial guess would be:

Control, Sense, & Alter power
range: touch

control and alter rolls must be made in the same round

prereq:
farseeing - to see the results
sense force - to see the object's 'shatterpoint'
telekinesis - to manipulate the object
and
injure/kill - for use against the living
force weapon - for shattering objects

Shattering Items or injuring people:
Sense: very difficult + str of object (better forged items would have fewer weaknesses to sense)
Control: very difficult
Alter: Heroic + str of object

For Kreia's 'fractures' I'd use a heroic sense force to find a shatterpoint, and multiple farseeing rolls at heroic + 30 to see the results of actions around a shatterpoint (a 30 on farseeing is only 50% of future, which is why I put such a large difficulty)

Other than the damaging part, it really seems like the best mechanic for the Shatterpoint is GM plot device, rather than a power. It seems as though it's a very rare gift to be able to (occasionally) perceive the shatterpoints, it shouldn't be something that is widely accessible, and having a Force Power description will really only make more people want to use it Smile

I don't have enough familiarity with the textual descriptions to give a suggestion for how the material part of the power would properly manifest.

Yeah, I would not allow this in one of my games, was just speculating on how it could work if someone wanted it in theirs. I would say however, that not every object or person would have a shatterpoint, so it could still be a GM tool.

If it was in my game, I would let a munchkin player build up to heroic levels of force abilities, maybe spend a force point to make the rolls, and then inform the player trying to throw off the game that a shatterpoint doesn't exist on the item in question. Twisted Evil but then again I am evil.

btw, add to my above description an immediate DSP for any attempt to use to injure a person.

Shatterpoint should definitely be GM controlled. From what I've seen, I would allow a Jedi with this ability to ask for the Shatterpoint, and he may or may not get an answer.

As to how to determine if a Jedi can have this ability....

Maybe (going out on a limb here) it could be something anyone can try, but the difficulty is really high (like a Sense check of 30-40 or something), if the Jedi beats it, the information is valid. Fail, and the Jedi gets faulty information (and doesn't know it.)

Too bad he didn't spend that time on developing the force power "Maintain Composure after Dismemberment" instead.

I know this should be tough, by is it CSA, and not just SA?

I don't see where Control comes into play.

I think it should be somewhat rare, but I don't see it being all that imbalancing per se. Using it on a living creature would be a DSP, even if used to kill a Sith. You're not taking them down with a saber, you are using the Force to rip someone apart.
