|
|
I was wondering if someone can buy maneuverability for their ship before modifying it. For example, the yt-2400 comes with 0D man. Can you buy some maneuverability dice first and then modify that, or do you just modify the 0D up to the max of 1D+2. The outrider has 2D man, which isnt possible according to the rules. _________________ "I've got a bad feeling about this!"

I believe you have ot get a D of maneuvarability first before modifying it. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I can't find anywhere listed to buy maneuverability. _________________ "I've got a bad feeling about this!"

Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters just has rules for improving maneuverability...basically the same exact thing as in the main rulebook. There are no rules or stats for replacement thrusters or anything like that that would equate to buying new maneuverability. _________________ Arek | Kage |

Matt is talking about Starship Creation Rules and Prices, which has been notoriously lacking in rules since day one.
Might have to try converting rules from the *SHUDDER* D20. |

I haven't really looked at anything from D20 at all...if someone else is up for a conversion though... _________________ Arek | Kage |

I think you could use thrusters from some other (similar) space transport.
For example Ghtrock 720 system with Maneuverability 1D, cost: ~24000 (new) ,12000 (used). Mishap modifier +1, all modifications +1 difficulty level. Or something like that. |

I was thinking something along those lines, except the maneuverability might not translate well in atmosphere, since you have (usually) vastly different aerodynamics. And I don't know how much of a difference the mass would make when changing out thrusters from one ship to another, as far as comparing "D". Someone smarter than me chime in, please. _________________ Arek | Kage |

well, to add maneuverability you are simply adding thrusters, so they would work just as well in atmosphere. the system doesnt really take into account a ships maneuverability in atmosphere _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Volar the Healer created and Empire vs Earth sourcebook which had atmospheric maneuverability codes for some Imperial ships, perhaps something can be extracted from there. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

You can also use the Star Wars ship construction rules found on D6 Universe. It's a conversion of the D20 stuff, and Krapou graciously took the time to make sure it was compatible with Star Wars and put it into PDF format.
While it's not official, it might help out.
You can find the file on this page http://www.dimfuture.net/d6universe/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewdownload&cid=1 |

I was actually trying to come up with a price based upon that Ship building book, but everything is in CPs. Let me think.
I have decided to make my own costs with weight in tons the same as shield.
Maneuver Bonus 1D = 6000
2D = 15000
3D = 30000
I still don't understand why The Outrider wouldn't have more than 2D man. bonus if you can buy it for a ship and then mod it out. _________________ "I've got a bad feeling about this!"

hmmmm. well, you could do it like any other upgrade. find the tonnage required to add the thrusters, and go from there. for each +1 of thrusters costs 1k creds and 10 tonnes, or something of the like. to encourage people to upgrade instead of buy. _________________ The Vong have Arrived
