I just discovered an awesome resource: a six-volume set of books entirely devoted to generating random malfunctions on starships. For GMs who hate coming up with technobabble on the fly, something like this is an invaluable resource.
Best part? All six volumes are available as a bundled pdf download for $3.18 (price may be subject to change)

Did I mention it is in D6 format?

Okay, technically D66, but whatever.
What's more, there are 6 volumes: roll a D6 to pick the volume, then roll 2D on the table in the volume to pick the result.
EDIT: 36 results per table x 6 tables = 216 possible results, each including base repair cost and time required. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. I went ahead and bought it. This is great. And it is funny that you posted this because it was on my to-do list to post a similar but smaller ship Technobabble chart from the Serenity RPG, with three columns where you roll a d6, a d8 and a d10 for the part name and what happened to it, with a fourth d12 column for suggestions on what the problem could mean. I was thinking that to eliminate the D&D dice we could expand each of the first three columns to eleven outcomes (filling them in with Star Wars sounding things) so we could make it 2d6 for all three columns. When I get around to it, I still might post it for those who won't buy this bundle or want even more technobabble options. _________________ *

I picked it up. At 45 cents a pdf, it's a decent buy. Each pdf has a one-page cover then a one-page table. Roll 2d6, treat one day as the tens place and the other as the ones place, and you look up the malfunction between 11 and 66.
I've thought of doing something similar to this product, but I always get bogged down each time I try to put pen to paper, or just don't have the time. For less than four bucks, having six pages of charts I can look at makes it easy.
The pricing is a little expensive for a Star Wars game. If a ship has a 24k credit repair, you're better off trading it in for another ship. But I think taking the value in parenthesis (24) x100, probably gets you into the Star Wars starship economy.
My advice is to buy the bundle. _________________ __________________________________

Only some of it is for D6 Star Wars.
Just repurchased the X-Wing and Tie Fighter flight sim games. I forgot how much I missed them. |

Holy crap...
I just did a random search for D66 on Drive-Thru RPG and they have an entire list of these: Cargos, Ship Quirks, contents of the ship's Galley, problems with an abandoned ship, atmospheric contamination, reasons why the starport is closed...
And most of them are $.50 per copy... _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

I already had "d66 Ship Names 2" that came with a charity bundle. I looked through the entire catalogue of them today. I didn't want to go overboard but went out on a limb and bought 6 more, the ones that just jumped out at me. All 50 cents each:
d66 Cargos
d66 Escalations of Panicked Crowds
d66 Planets Main Industry
d66 Random Spaceport Events
d66 Reasons Why Your Ally Cannot Help Right Now
d66 Ship Quirks _________________ *

I first read the names of the files as The Culture ship names. "Resons Why Your Ally Cannot Help Right Now" would be a fairly Culture ship name.
