This is just a theory I'm messing with at the moment.

The RAW already has power armor that boosts a character's Strength. Has anyone ever done power armor that uses the integral power musculature to offset the Dex penalty?

How about letting the power armor give a "Dex" score, i.e. that it is a vehicle and you get the worse of either the armor's Dex score (showing the armor's responsiveness) or your own Mec score (showing your ability to drive the thing)?

No. To me that whole dex penalty is one of the few offsets for all those big bulky armors out there.

The only thing I find surprising about this is that Zarn replied before you did. Sometimes I think you sense a disturbance in the Force whenever someone proposes a rule that disrupts the balance of the WEG.

I think I'd prefer something simpler.

I could see the powered armor having an early warning system that stimulates the wearer's nervous system in response to a detected threat... It would have to be worn with diodes and what not, or course.

Would that suit then be vulnerable to ion damage? And if so, could that not bleed INTO the wearer?

Assuming that ion damage inflicts a positive charge that inflicts electrical damage. Why can't they carry a negative charge that simply disrupts electronics without affecting organics at all? Even if that weren't the case, why wouldn't a smart designer build cut-outs into the system to protect the wearer?

I could see it combining with something like the RiMPack system from Cracken's Rebel Field Guide, where it actually interfaces with the wearer's nervous system, but that's a step further than what I was thinking in the OP.

Namely that's not how ion damage works (there is no putting in cutouts to lessen the damage to ships/droids etc..

There is no mention anywhere in the RAW of ion damage carrying over to the crew or passengers of an affected ship or vehicle, so obviously there is some form of protection.

What's your reference for this?

I don't know if it was ever mentioned in any rules but in the X-Wing novel Wraith Squadron a mine designed to disable ships traveling thru hyperspace took out the ships, the droids, and the character Phanan's cybernetic prosthetics.

The mine in the novel did a combination of ion/emp damage so it's unclear which damaged the cybernetics.
