FFG has recently posted new info on the new TIE/fo Fighter from Episode 7: The Force Awakens:

Has anyone taken a shot at D6 statting yet?

From that link, it seems they just have improved hull (i'd say 3d is ok) and now have shields..

I figured at least Hull 3D and Shields +2 or just make it 1D (though this almost makes it the equal of the X-Wing, which it is not).

I'm going to guess that the new model of X-Wing is going to be a bit tougher as well. I haven't done any comparisons between the FFG game piece stats, but I have a hard time believing that they haven't done any stat bumping.

Doing a cursory glance at competitive stats if anyone's interested:

TIE/ln Attack 2 Agility 3 Hull 3 Shield 0 Max Speed 5 Max Green Speed 3 Max Snap Turn Speed 4

TIE/fo Attack 2 Agility 3 Hull 3 Shield 1 Max Speed 5 Max Green Speed 3 Max Snap Turn Speed 4

Xwing T65 Attack 3 Agility 2 Hull 3 Shield 2 Max Speed 4 Max Green Speed 2 Max Snap Turn Speed 4

Xwing T70 Attack 3 Agility 2 Hull 3 Shield 3 Max Speed ? Max Green Speed ? Max Snap Turn Speed ?

For comparison:
Awing Attack 2 Agility 3 Hull 2 Shield 2 Max Speed 5 Max Green Speed 5 Max Snap Turn Speed 5

The article also makes repeated mention of the T70's "increased maneuverability," so that should be reflected

Based on those stats, it mostly looks like both ships just pick up 1D of Shields...

Well we don't know the new Xwing's top speed, but I'd guess at also giving it a +2 or +1D to maneuverability, since it claims it can do short-range Tallon Rolls (effectively a 90 degree snap turn) which the old one could not.

Granted this is a game function in the minis game and doesn't have a binary correlation, but it seems to indicate a significant agility increase.

Plus, WEG's TIE is actually less maneuverable than the X-Wing, not more. That calls into question whether or not the FFG game stats are usable for conversion purposes.

I'd say that's less of a problem - the interrelatedness of one ship to another is part and parcel to each gaming system, but the relative offsets of one version of a ship to another are what should be taken into account.

Ie, it doesn't really matter to me if D6 or SAGA or FFG has the TIE faster or slower or more maneuverable than an Xwing, what matters is that the new TIE is stronger than the old TIE.
