Player's still have not got back to me with a name on their ship, but this is what I intend to have them start with.
I was unhappy with the existing stats for the Luxury Yacht 5000, so this is what I came up with. You'll note it's capital scale, which would make sense given it's 65 meters long, but I gave it decent maneuverability (for its size) so it CAN dodge fire, just not well.
Craft: Sorosuub Personal Luxury Yacht 5000
Type: Luxury Yacht
Scale: Capital
Length: 65m
Skill: Capital Ship Piloting
Crew: 4 (1 pilot, 1 Copilot, 2 gunners)
Passengers: 16
Cargo Capacity: 290 tons
Consumables: 3 Months
Hyperdrive Multiplier: 1.5x
Backup Hyperdrive: 18x
Nav Computer: Yes
Maneuverability: 2D+2
Space: 6
Atmosphere: 220; 600 kph
Hull: 3D+1
Shields: 1D
Sensors:
Passive: 40/1D
Scan: 80/1D
Search: 100/1D
Focus: 5/2D
Weapons:
Model: SoroSuub Corp. "FastTrak" Double Blaster Cannon
Scale: Starfighter
Fire Arc: 1 Forward/Port, 1 Forward/Starboard
Crew: 1 Gunner
Skill: Gunnery
Fire Control: 1D
Damage: 3D+2
Range: 1-3/12/25
Atmosphere Range:100-300m/1.2km/2.5km
Special Equipment
Holonet Transceiver & Broadcast Suite
Port and Starboard Launch Bay
I do like the ship layout here:

and here's the wookipedia article:

I like the layout; we use a similar one for our PC's ship (probably from the same website). _________________ Currently Running: Villains & Vigilantes (a 32-year-old campaign with multiple groups) and D6 Star Wars; mostly on hiatus are Adventures in Middle-earth and Delta Green |

You do know that this ship will be impervious to 90% of the ships in the galaxy with a 3D+1 Capital scale hull.
Starfighters and space transports will be firing against 9D+1 hull plus a possible 1D in reactionary shields. The 9D hull is on even ground to soak a proton torpedo. _________________ RR

Not necessarily. There is a lot of grey area on the dividing line between Starfighter and Capital Ship Scale. The Skipray Blastboat (25 meters) and the Gamma Assault Shuttle (30 meters) are Capital Scale due to their power output, but the Rendili Light Corvette (180 meters) is Starfighter Scale. The Rendili seems ridiculous on the surface, but if you try converting it to Capital Ship Scale (adding or subtracting 6D on appropriate stats), you end up with Maneuverability 8D and a Hull of -2. However, if the goal is to make a large ship that is lightly armored but fast and highly maneuverable, then shifting it down a scale it the way to go.
In this case, your stat only gives away 1 pip in Hull to the 300m long Nebulon B, and that is pretty tough for a 60-meter long luxury yacht. On top of that, the blaster cannon are pretty anemic; even the stock laser cannon on a stock YT-1300 inflicts 4D.
Finally, this thing is supposed to be a very, very luxurious yacht. I'm curious how the backstory will justify a group of PCs having something this nice, especially with a full Holonet rig in it. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. That's really only a problem if I throw starfighters at them, but not capital ships. It just means I need to select a different set of opponents.
The balance I'm striking here WOULD lead to longer engagements where a lucky shot is what matters (or targeted fire) The underpowered laser cannons are kind of keeping with that idea.

However, maybe I'll drop the hull down a pip or two.

The campaign starts with the players working directly for the Imperial Propaganda Board. (yes, I know there are 2 canon propaganda organizations in addition to the IPB) One of the characters is the daughter of an Imperial Moff, and a musical superstar. She's basically singing propaganda performances on behalf of the Empire (Think Captain America selling war bonds meets Hannah Montana meets Beatlemania) There characters themselves are fairly neutrally affiliated, but a nice heavy paycheck buys a lot of moral compromise.
Since the Empire is trying to put a good face forward, they're well funded. The Empire wants to make sure their star is safe and 'friendly' - a large warship or fighter escort might undermine that. _________________ http://swfallingstar.podbean.com

Yes, but the two aired prequels have only briefly touched on the characters from the main campaign.
Episode 0 had Gael Aliet, the brother of the media star Jol Aliet.
Gael did receive a message from their father who will also play a role in the campaign but not be a major character. Gael's capture in the end of Episode 0 will provide a motivation for Jol going forward.
Episode -1 had 3 padawans and their NPC Jedi Knight teacher. The Jedi Knight we'll see again, and possibly 2 of the padawans. _________________ http://swfallingstar.podbean.com

The ship in Gry Sarth's Starship Stats has its scale at Starfighter and a Hull of 5D and shields of 3D.
It's still pretty invulnerable vs. Starfighters, but it gives them more of a chance. _________________ "I still wouldn't have a roll for it - but that's just how I roll." |

The other part of the logic here is that the ship supposedly can carry 6 starfighters. Most combat starfighters other than the TIE series have hulls in the 3D+2 - 4D+1 range, 5D for something that carries them seems a little weak.
the Third part is my move to do away with space transports as a skill and break starships into "Move like fighters" and the "Move like bricks" category. Maneuverable as it is, it should still move like a brick. _________________ http://swfallingstar.podbean.com

The justification there is that a luxury yacht isn't supposed to be a combatant. The Millennium Falcon has Hull/Shields of 6D/3D, and that is with heavy modification, so a yacht with a 5D Hull isn't really giving up all that much. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
