I think that was mentioned above, with regard to concealment being a feature of minefields.

I'm sure a combination of Demolitions and hide are in order. Demolitions to place the mine, Hide to, well, hide the mine.

If a pc were to place a mine or a few mines I might use their hide roll as the difficulty number for the search/perception check. For a standing mine field I would use a difficulty number, not sure on how hard though.

I think it would be fun to have that classic moment when a character steps on a mine and hears that "click". Then the other pcs have to come up with a way to save them.

garhkal, this might be the Dodge you were considering. A character might get no chance to dodge an actual mine detonation, but he might be able to roll a reflexive freeze to stop moving when he hears the click noise...

YEs, but if they wanted to get a search roll that would be a full on action, and so would MAP with movement (and any other actions they are doing)..

Second edition, revised and expanded, does have stats for an anti-vehicle mine. The write-up does suggest that there should somewhere be stats for anti-personnel in one of the other books.

Mines:
Craken's Rebel Field Guide (CRFG) Pgs. 78, 79
Imperial Source book Pg 129 (no specific rules)
Gundark’s Fantastic Technology page 44

Triggers:
CRFG Pgs 18, 19, 20
Rules of Engagement pg 42-43
Shadows of the Empire Planets Guide page 84

For the record before anyone thinks I am totally obsessive I could only remember they existed I still had to look up the specific books and page numbers. Wink

Bumping this on account of something I just read about: Smart Mines.

In particular, these mines can be used to create “self-healing minefields”. By networking together, the mines can build a map of the minefield and detect gaps caused by detonated mines, then move themselves to plug the gaps. Current versions use rockets to move along the ground, but versions with treads or wheels are plausible. In a Star Wars setting, repulsorlift-mobile mines are a possibility. It’s also a lot easier to replenish and/or rebuild a depleted field by adding new mines that network with the remaining mines from the previous field.

Discuss.
