If your going for a custom ship, it's fine.
If you attempting to replicate a clone wars era headhunter, then it should not have stats superior to the MKI
Your ship has major improvements to maneuverability, speed, and armament |

umm uhh... the Mk 1 predates the clone wars by 182 years..... there were considerable improvements, especially to fighters, due to the pressures of the clones wars.... _________________ The Empire: We'z Ownz ALL yer'z Star Destoyerz!!! |

The Clone Wars were 20+ years in the past by Episode 4, and his "Clone Wars Era" Z95 is better than the stock model you come across in the Rebellion Era

I'd treat the Clone Wars version as being roughly equal to the XT trainer, which is of similar age to the Clone Wars one, and is similiarly enlarged. The main improvement then would be the weapons. It oculd also have some improvements that don't show up in the stats per se, such as an extended fuel range, consumables, and parts storage area (like the Jedi's Delta fighter), which would explain the size increase.
So perhaps something like the following.
Clone Z-95
Craft: Incom/Subpro Z-95XT
Affiliation: Galactic Republic / General
Era: Rise of the Empire
Type: Interceptor
Scale: Starfighter
Length: 16.3 meters
Skill: Starfighter piloting: Z-95
Crew: 1
Crew Skill: All skills 3D+2
Cargo Capacity: 600 kilograms
Consumables: 2 week

Yeah maybe ill use them stats instead. I read on the Wookiepedia that the z-95 was more manoeuvrable than the ARC-170 so I thought id adjust the stats accordingly. _________________ Cracken's Rebel Field Blog

You might think of the Z-95 and X-Wing relationship as a charaquature of the F-4 Phantom and F-15 Eagle relationship.
An ICE modified Phantom is basically the same thing in the majority of combat situations. It's got the Hornet fire control set but AMRAAMs and can hold 3-4G turns in excess thrust.
The main threat difference is in close-weapons combat/BFM (dogfighting at low alt and low speed) the Eagle and other honeycomb fighters with turbofans have every advantage and a lot of performance over the Phantom era birds.
The main piloting difference is the way they burn fuel. The old Phantom will run dry very quickly if you go supersonic all over the battlefield and get in tight dogfights.
The Eagle will do it all day.
Early Phantoms, sure they're not much more than a Sabrejet with missiles (that hardly ever worked).
But a late mod Phantom is very dangerous even today.
So think of the Z'ers like that I reckon. I've a "Z-95C" version used by CSA and Rebels in our campaign that's basically en par with an X-Wing, but it has no astromech and less fuel range.
Quote: | Z-95C Enforcement starfighter
Current version in service with the Corporate Sector Authority and independent organisations looking for cheaper alternatives to X-Wing and Y-Wing starfighters but with similar tactical capabilities.
Uses CEC Evader-GT engines (move, space: 8 ) and is fitted with a hyperdrive motivator (class 2 rating). Spaceframe inertial limits are increased (manoeuvrability 2D).
Systems updates feature X-Wing sensor array and created room in the avionics bay for a limited navicomputer (stores 2 preprogrammed jump coordinates).
Additional power cells and stowage is installed for increased consumables range of up to 1 week or more with rationing and atmosphere dipping to scoop fuel.
Laser cannon are upgraded to extremely powerful Taim&Bak KX10 tight beam penetrator style weapons (fire control 2D+1, damage 5D+2).
Missile launchers are upgraded to newer Arakyd medium range universal launchers, reducing magazine capacity to 2 each (fire control 2D+2; range 1-2/8/15; damage 8D normal, 9D high yield warhead, 5D ionisation for EMP-canister). |
