Yup. Just took a ride on Star Tours and Darth Vader showed up and tried to capture a rebel spy that was flying with us. R2 fired the front mounted laser cannons at hin and he just swatted the beams aside effortlessly. Well, that puts that argument to bed.

Now that begs the question, are the Star Tours 'official' and if so, how 'official.' With multiple levels of canon and so on, people can probably disagree about until the end of time, lol

hmmm... I'm unsure of how I feel about the subject, myself... official or not.

I always ruled that they could parry, subject to scale modifiers.

Oh, I like that idea, nice and simple.

Which would make them really easy to parry..

Tying in to the discussion wether blast/laser cannons have any blast effect, is there any force behind that laser cannon (if not in the beam, in effect)?

Do you need to make a STR check or something?

By which I meant that the scale modifier is added to the difficulty to parry the shot.

I use a rough house rule that the Jedi needs to be able to do damage on the order of the damage of the weapon she is parrying. So TIE fighter doing 5D damage with scale modifier does 11D damage. The Jedi compares lightsaber damage plus bonus from LSC to get 11D damage from the TIE. The Jedi will need to do a similar amount of damage to be able to parry.

Example 1: Jedi with Control 6D and Sense 6D parries the blast from a TIE fighter. LSC + parry (only) is 3 actions so MAP= -2D. The Jedi does 5D+6D-2D=9D < 11D so the Jedi cannot parry (or if the GM is in a really generous mood, maybe can parry but knocked aside, rolls vs some remaining damage, plus chance to have lightsaber shorted out).

Example 2: Same Jedi using a FP with same actions so Jedi's damage is 5D+12D-2D=15D > 11D. So the Jedi can parry the TIE blast.

If the damage is close to the damage that the Jedi can do, I would add a chance for knockdown and add some picturesque charring of the Jedi's hair and clothes.

So parrying a fighters shot incurs a -6d penalty?

I recall hearing/reading about Luke parrying an AT-AT main gun blast once. AT-ATs mount Taim & Bak KX-9 laser cannons. (The same model as X-wings, just in a different housing.) I think that parrying wouldn't really be harder, but if the bolt hit the ground next to you, you'd probably explode anyway.

Well they are Canon

Although apparently subject to debate.

Do you put any 'blast radius' to walker, fighter or bigger weapons?

I'd like to, but I've never really found a rule for it that I liked. However, larger beam diameter and energy output was one of the reasons I added the scale modifier to the difficulty to parry. However, I did rule that, once a Walker or Starfighter scale blast had been parried, it could be redirected back at the shooter without penalty.

But wouldn't they cancel out with the 6D bonus they get to defend themselves against the larger scale attacking them?

Attacker takes -6D penalty to shoot at character scale Jedi.
Jedi takes -6D penalty to parry negating the attacker's 6D penalty to hit a small target.

They would still get the bonus to dodge the shot if they were dodging. Since they are actually parrying the much larger and more powerful blast, it should be more difficult, and not something the average starting level Young Jedi can pull off. The quickest and easiest way to do that is use scale modifiers as a penalty to the parry.
