Being a fan of the old show, Airwolf, and a lover of the other copter film, Blue thunder, i've always wondered. IN WEG stats, what would be the skill to USE a helo? Say for planets where repulsors have 'issues' working..

Helicopters...
Gunships like the LAAT are the 'Helicopters' of STAR WARS, & they use the airspeeder skill. Or Repulsorlift Operation. For actual Helicopters... might need to have Helicopter Operation because no repulsor tech in it.
The LAAT police variant was in Rebels & now the AHSoKA show, but looks nothing like the CW LAAT Gunships.

Depends on the level of automation helping pilot.

However, overall - I would make a new skill - something like "Air-lift vehicles" or something like that - because navigating with anti-grav help is very different than being in a vehicle that has to generate mechanical lift.

Side note - the police version of the laat was in the 5th season of clone wars a few times near the end ....as the republic was hunting a fugitive on coruscant.

My game has flying vehicle operation which is an expansion of RAW's hover vehicle operation to also include operating non-space and non-repulsorlift flying vehicles.

Does that include jets?

It would include jet planes, since jets do not fly in space or have repulsorlift tech. IIRC, Earthlike helicopters and jets have never appeared in my game, and neither have non-repulsorlift hover vehicles. So I just expanded the hover vehicle skill to cover these other non-repulsorlift flying vehicles, just in case they ever did.

In my games, the way i've done it, whether in D6 or WWGS' Storyteller D10 system, is Aircraft Piloting covers planes, whether jets or propellers (though the more i think on it i may take a look at piloting licenses), and Helicopter Piloting covers Helicopters (Sulu just has all the skills).

In Star Wars, they are referred to as "Rotorcraft".

Your answer can be found on page 82 of "Goroth - Slave of the Empire":

"Skill: Rotor vehicle operation: De' B'Den (Unskilled: -3D)"

Rotorcraft/Helicopters have an increased unskilled penalty, as noted above, due to their difficulty to control and their inherent dangerous nature. Repulsorlift tech is safer and less likely to decapitate you or chop a chunk off a building. Very Happy

My pleasure friend.

I would extend a bit of advice to you and everyone in this Forum. All the D6 books are available for free online.

I am not asking you to read all 10,000 pages of the game, that's my job. Razz
I do think its a good idea to skim all the books, looking at the images and headings. You might just be shocked at what you see. Thumbs Up

There is no corner of the galaxy I wont explore as long as it was produced before "The Phantom Menace". Very Happy

That's great general advice. I plan on eventually using at least something from every single WEG SW book published, to make my collection more practical.

Please see the Forum Guidelines link in my signature. Thank you both for not sharing links to bootlegs. Yes, it is the undeniable reality that officially published WEG books are available online to read and download, but we generally do not even refer to that fact here because it opens the door for people to reply with links. And it is not really even ok to even talk about downloading bootlegs. While fight club exists, we do not talk about fight club here. And preemptively, we also never argue about why it should be ok to talk about fight club here (or any other guidelines for posting here). Thank you.

Move along.
