This is mostly just a theory at the moment, but I’m picturing a weaponized personal tractor beam, in the form of either a gun or a gauntlet. There some precedent for both; the gun in William Shatner’s Tekwar TV series, and the gauntlet (the Repulse-Hand in Cracken’s Rebel Field Guide). Also, arguably, the grappler gun from the remake of Total Recall...
I’m envisioning it having a limited telekinetic effect, able to lift and move small objects, or able to deliver a pulse of energy that either shoves a character-scale target away or yanks it closer.
I don’t have a lot thought out beyond that, but I figured I’d post it and get the ball rolling. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation. It's expected that you will make up new rules to suit the needs of your game." - The Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2R&E, pg. 69, WEG, 1996.

Well, I think it would be relatively simple to stat out... give it a Strength and a range (or, perhaps, several strengths at range increments; 3D at up to 5, 2D at up to 10, 1D at up to 20). Strength is used for Lifting and Grappling.
I wouldn't see it as too much different from a Repulsor pack, if such things exist. I'm reminded, in fact, of a Rifts Phase World device... a gravity pack that can either be used as a flight pack or to greatly increase your lifting strength. _________________ "I've Seen Your Daily Routine. Yup.
Quote: | Squib Tensor Rifle
Model: Amberlandrax Armaments Squib Tensor Rifle
Type: Tractor beam weapon
Scale: Character
Skill: Tensor rifle
Ammo: 50 with replaceable power generator
Cost: 15,000
Availability: 4, F, R or X
Range: 25-75/150/250
Damage: 4D
Game Notes: The tensor rifle does 3D damage for the first hit; subsequent hits to the same target within 30 seconds cause increasing dame: 4D for the second hit, 5D for the third, etc. Due to the great difficulty of targeting and handling this rather bizarre weapon, double the normal penalty for multiple actions in a round (two action would be a -2D penalty; three actions would be a -4D penalty, four actions would be a -6D penalty, etc.)

While the tensor rifle is cool, I feel like a tractor beam rifle should have an effective lifting score.
Something like 8D lifting maybe for the 4D Tensor rifle damage? _________________ RR

I agree the Tensor Rifle uses similar tech, but it achieves a different effect, actually causing damage instead of a tech-based telekinetic effect. I picture the Tensor Rifle as something of an oscillating pulse tractor weapon, in that it switches between "push" and "pull" thousands of times per second, literally tearing its target apart. What I'm picturing would leave the target intact, but allow the user to pull objects closer to him or push objects away. _________________ "No set of rules can cover every situation.
