Here's a cool macro for rolling d6's with the wild die exploding for use in maptool.

Honestly I need to learn how to use this. It looks useful to our gaming, but as of right now can't do much till i figure out how to work it.

It's not difficult, even if it has a bit of a learning curve.

I use it currently to play 4th ed. D&D, and we'v ewhad a great time with it.

SW d6 is such a simpler game, that the setup to play with maptools would be minimal.

The only issue that i could see would be that players may tend to rely on the grid or map too much during combat, which d6 generally ignores.

I recommend going to rptools.net and checking out the software. It's really, really good and it's free. Smile

It looks interesting, but the trciky bit seems to be in setting it up.

Apparently one has to DL not only maptool, but some maps, tokens, character sheets and everything else needed to play. Nothing comes bunlded with maptool. This makes it tough to learn, because you have to know what to install, and where to putit before you can actually do anything with maptooll.

Maybe somebody could take an example of a workiing version of maptool with a small set of tokens and tools that could be used as a demo?

I did watch one of their videos were they set up a projector on an clear table and it displayed everything.

I think they had a pointer or something, that allow them to edit and move units too. Or maybe the GM just did that from their computer. But it was really interesting.

This is close to true. The GM has to find and input/create almost everything. Character tokens, maps, ships, etc, etc, etc. The upside is, once hosted by the GM, the players receive it automatically.

The maptool lingo for that is a "framework". You download it as a campaign file and load into maptool.

I'm looking for a good one of those as well...
