8) I made this for my computer. It gives a feel of our 'The Empire invades the Earth' campaign. I've run that campaign three times and got to play it once. Enjoy!

Coolness!
Though we would get our @sses handed to us. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Perhaps. Perhaps not. That's part of what the campaign was meant to explore.
When the 75% ex-military group played it they ran the Imperials in circles. When the college boys tried it, they were all killed by the third game. Things like tactics and training can overcome technological advantage up to a point.
The 75% ex-military game was one of the most emotional and knock down drag out 'kill 'em all' campaigns I've ever played in. It's one thing to see the Rebels fighting on Hoth. It's another to see the characters fighting in Seattle! {American flag waving with the National Anthem playing in the background} But we played that campaign before 9/11. It might be too emotional these days.
Would anyone like to see the stats for Earth's weapons we used? _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

here's something to consider.
why would the empire waste time using ground troops when they could use their capital ships to do an orbital bombardment and clean up later???? |

That is exactly the situation that was created in our campaign. Most of the Earth's ground, air, and sea forces, and the three largest cities, were destroyed before the first stormtroopers were deployed dirtside to demonstrate the Empire's superiority. Then came a demand for surrender. Some countries did surrender, but most did not. But, as in all wars, victory is decided by where the infantry stands.
All wars are fought because of greed. The Empire's goal was to CAPTURE the Earth's resources and tool up it's existing industry to Imperial standards...not to destroy it. That wouldn't be very profitable for them. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

The empire has superior arms, armour, technology, and numbers.
It has been mentioned in EU material that Stormtooper armour can withstand most projectile weapons. Small arms don’t do jack, and even Rifle rounds have a hard time.
A galaxy spanning empire against one backwater planet?
We would get spanked.
Though to play it and make it fun some exceptions would be made so us earth folk could win, or so I would assume. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

Standard stormtroopers have 2D strength and their armor adds +2D to physical attacks, so they would roll 4D to resist damage. In the Star Wars Sourcebook, it says that Submachine guns do 4D damage. Grenades do 5D damage. I think this backwater planet has some weapons that could do some damage to Stormtroopers.

Granted, we'd probably have to use guerilla tactics and get creative with our strategy because we'd be outgunned and outnumbered, but that's exactly what would make a campaign like this interesting. _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

For Son of Fire:
I never said we won...
For LocTaal:
Now that's the spirit! O.K. I will provide some stats and a gerenal campaign outline explaining our assumptions, but it will take me a day or two to gather it together. I'll do it as a new thread. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

I’m not talking about game mechanics here Loc, I was referring to official non-game sources that state what Stormtrooper armour is capable of withstanding _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

They would need some powerful explosives to take out walkers. _________________ "My schooling not only failed to teach me what it professed to be teaching, but prevented me from being educated to an extent which infuriates me when I think of all I might have learned at home by myself." - George Bernard Shaw |

One of the lines I remember from the campaign came over a ham radio from Texas. It was "Nukes seem to work." _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.
