One of my group's long-standing ambitions has been to play a warhammer 40,000 adventure or campaign. My few problems are with equipment. I need a little help with several pieces of equipment. Anyone who can come forward with profiles for these in the Star Wars D6 system will be greatly thanked.
1. Bolt Pistol
2. Bolt gun
3. Heavy bolter
4. Plasma gun |

Bolt weapons are variations on the gyrojet theme it's sometimes best to think of them as miniature grenade launchers where the blast radius for the grenade it entirely contained within the target.
By that logic they should have quite stringent maintenance requirements, high cost of ammunition but also a reasonably high rate of fire and a very good damage output.
When I was making my bolt weapon conversions (not for D6 sadly) I worked out how much damage was required to kill a basic Ork 50% of the time and went from there. Off the top of my head I'd probably say
Ork stamina = 4D
Ork amour - 1d Physical +1 energy (bolt weapons are not energy weapons)
Total soak 5D or 32 on average so the bolt pistol and bolter need to be averaging around between 28 and 45 to have a good chance of outright killing an ork.
The heavy bolter has a greater range, damage output and customised ammunition.
Plasma should do almost double the damage but in the event of a one on the wild dice it should vent hot steam into the user for something like 6D energy damage. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

5d would have an average of 5 x 3.5 or 17.5... Where you getting the 32 figure from? _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Late night posting, I think I multiplied rather than added I use 2D averages to seven so I think I must have multiplied seven by four (the number Ork's stamina) giving me twenty eight and then I gave the Ork the benefit of the doubt for it's last dice and counted it as four which added to twenty eight gives thirty two...
That's pretty messed up but with 17 you're better off for strength of the bolter variations. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

I would probabily place them within + or -1 to 2 of a blaster for the bolters.. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
