If memory serves I used the line from the book about such a thing being a heroic roll without the use of the force. Now bear in mind that I make players deduct a Die for using weapons they have no skill in, instead of using the straight attribute. So his Dex was a die lower than normal, needless to say he got nailed trying this. But the force point he was spending to try helped save him from certain death.

I can't say as I remember since it was a die roll he made a year and a half ago...but if I had to guess at how I did it (Since in the 15+ years I've been running swrpg he's the only player to ever try it...) I'd say it was the standard heroic+to hit roll difficulty to try it. Regardless of the fact I gave him a shot at it and he failed.

I had similar issues like this once. The players had a ship with tons of tech, and I hit them with an ion storm as they were leaving a planet. Luckily the ship was moving fast enough it still broke atmosphere. Shortly after, they were picked up by scavengers, all their stuff was taken and they were dropped in an escape pod on a rival scavenger groups planet.
Of course the only way off was to take gear from the scavengers, and then work their way to a ship, and eventually back to their own equipment. It was worth several weeks of playing. They thanked me for it as well, as one of my players stopped relying on his saber for every fight, and another one started relying more on his stealth than his mouth (which typically got him into trouble more than out of). |
