|
|
I have developed hyperspace route maps along the style of the maps in Lords of the Expanse. My best developed map is for the Rimma Trade Route.
Is there an interest in maps like this? If so, how do I post it outside of a hyperlink to an outside site? I'd rather not post my maps to a site I would have to pay for.
I'm open to suggestions
Here's a sample:
http://s1182.photobucket.com/albums/x444/BulldogZeta/Star%20Wars/?action=view¤t=_NAV-RimmaTradeRoute-Sample.jpg
I am using the maps found here http://starwarsatlas.uw.hu/thelist.htm as the basis of all my maps as well as information and maps found in the the Essential Atlas. Once in a great while I may change something (usually this will happen when my sources disagree with each other) but I'll try to identify this when it happens.

You can always use photobucket, which is free, and then use the pictures you've posted there as a reference in an image post.
I know I'm very interested in seeing the maps you've made because I've been trying to do something like that msyelf. _________________ Happiness is a warm blaster. |

That's pretty impressive, please keep it up.
As you probably know hyperspace times have been quite a mess in d6 since forever, you can search for other discussions here. _________________ "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing"- George Lucas |

Glad you like it. The Rimma Route is pretty much complete as is. The route times that begin with "s" are secret routes known to my players' characters including a couple planets that appear on those routes.
I'm not happy with the jpg quality and will be experimenting with other standard formats to see what looks the best. Since I used Open Office to create the maps I will be putting them out there in Open Office format as well. Since the Open Office Suite is free, it wouldn't hurt to down-load it so you can use the maps and edit them for your own use.
I don't have much time during the week so you'll likely see me add more only on weekend(s) as I get the chance. I currently have maps of the Tapani Sector, Elrood Sector, a couple of lesser routes, and also much of the area between the Rimma Trade Route and Correlian Run in the outer rim that I can add. What I'm planning to do is to put all my links in my first post to make it easier to locate my maps.
Also, if you disagree with what I have developed, tell me and also tell me why you disagree and what you would do. Who knows? I might just agree with you! |

After some experimenting I have found that PNG format is about as good as it's going to get without being memory hogs. Even PDF format didn't look very good even though it uses a lot more memory.
New Plan: Because Photo Bucket is so pickey, I'm only going to be saving maps in PNG format. Grrrr!!!
Also, the proper place to put the maps is under the "Tools" thread. I'll be opening a thread there under "Hyperspace Routes". However, any discussion about the maps should happen here. I'll be checking in regularly.
November 23, First 5 maps are now posted! |

Announcing the grand opening of the Hyperspace Routes Maps thread in TOOLS thread.
There is now quick access to the maps in both PNG format and in Open Office Draw format.
ENJOY!!! http://www.rancorpit.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3207
If you have any requests, please post them in this thread. |

What does 6h d:11 mean?
Normally h is hours and d is days, but I dont get what d does there in the case of the distance between Kidron and Elrood. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

6h means 6 hours
d (difficulty): 11 is the astrogation difficulty.
As for the non-working link; I'll post when I get it fixed. |

It works now. The first time around I didn't copy the whole link.
Thanks for letting me know. |

By the way, I increased the travel times in the Elrood Sector. I thought the times published by WEG was ridiculously short. |

Its a small sector.
Still, what does the numbers mean. Does the above mean 11 days and 6 hours? _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

The "d" is the difficulty number.
And yes, even with my increased times it's still a small sector. |

I'm making an alteration to my TRIELLUST TRADE ROUTE / SANRAFSIX CORRIDOR / FIVE VEILS ROUTE / LLANIC SPICE RUN map.
The current map is so crowded I'm splitting it into two.
I just got done posting the TRIELLUST TRADE ROUTE / SANRAFSIX CORRIDOR map. If I don't get FIVE VEILS ROUTE / LLANIC SPICE RUN posted tonight, I'll have it posted by Saturday at the latest.
I have also update the last of the maps to include hyperspace times and difficulties.
Does anyone have any preferences for which route I work on next? _________________ Never tell me the odds! |
