I don't think Tiny has even realized yet he used the Force, much less the dark side. That was still an interesting event with everyone's reaction and the discussion of what to do with Tiny. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

That wasn't a slip that was a full on force leap.
Frustration with loss and weakness always seems like a good motivation for turning to the Dark Side. That character would make a good vigilante or leader of a no-holds barred, take no prisoners group of Rebels. The sort of folks who viciously execute collaborators and quislings and want to bring the war to the Core Worlds via random bombing of civilians targets. Soon their former friends will end up having to disavow their behavior or even hunt them down. |
It was not really a leap.. More of a rapid sprint followed by a baseball slide into home plate. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

The most tragic part is that Tiny still thinks he helped heroically save a little girl rather than essentially causing her death which is what actually happened. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

I think the Groucho Marx line was something like "boy, there sure are a lot of accidents around here".
Maybe the DSPs should follow the player _________________ "A special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing"- George Lucas |

I just read that set of posts. It reminds me of one time many, many years ago running D&D for my friend. He was in a dungeon room with a fireplace and only one door. Just him and his mule...and the goblins outside the room. He's worried they are going to come through the door, so he douses the door with oil and lights it on fire. The room starts to fill with smoke and the mule goes beserk. So he decides to try and get away from the mule and the goblins by climbing up the fireplace...well you can probably guess how well that worked.
The cooking scene was priceless. I also liked Tiny trying to drag most of a wrecked X-Wing across the flight deck.
Thanks for sharing the link Esoomian, very enjoyable character interaction. 8) |

The best part about a PBPost game is that the writeup for the game is recorded as the game is played so all the nice little moments are there to be enjoyed any time.
Climbing into a fireplace... unless the player is very slight that sounds like an instant capture for the goblins. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Yeah, I can see that. We have a couple of scenarios where we actually played slow enough that we captured most of the character dialog. Still a lot of fun to re-read.

As I recall, the door eventually burned through, the mule ran out into the hall, the PC got wedged partway up the chimney, and I believe he died of smoke inhalation. Those were the days when I was more on the Doom & Despair side of the D&D Dungeon Master side of the fence.
Fortunately, in original D&D it took about a minute or two to roll up a new character and once you had a list (sacks, lantern, oil, torches, rope, iron spikes, 10' pole, ...) it took maybe 2-3 minutes to buy your equipment. Five minutes total and presto a new character. |

My character just received the first in game dsp (not counting the one I started out with from the failed jedi template).
We were trying to rescue a little girl from a crime boss on Nar Shaddaa. We found the hideout, which was a rebuilt giant air duct fan. Pretty cool. After a bit of fighting we managed to take over a cargo ship that was parked just next to the hideout.
During the fight a laser anti aircraft gun hit our gunslinger while he was flying around the ship. Of course he fell down the shaft and out of sight. After the fight for the ship I started levitating down the shaft to see if he survived the anti aircraft barrage and the fall.
Meanwhile our merc manned the ship’s laser cannon and blasted the aircraft gun to kingdom come. Being a bit trigger happy he then proceeded to fire the laser cannon straight into the giant fan.
Having their hideout hammered by such firepower didn’t do much to the inhabitants and they tried to escape in an air speeder. Overtaken by paranoia the merc blasted the speeder out of the sky, certain that it was an attack speeder coming to kill him. With engines out of commission the speeder went tumbling down the same shaft I was investigating.
I quickly got myself into a side tunnel to get out of the burning speeder, cursing my bad luck for having such nincompoops for teammates. Through the side window of the burning I could just make out the face of a terrified little girl pressing her hands against the window as the speeder came tumbling by.
Overcome by fear that the girl we were supposed to rescue was plummeting to her death, I ditched all my hard work at not using the dark side of the force. Using my one dsp to get an edge to my Telekinetic roll I told myself that failure was not an option. Naturally this was the one time I made my only really good roll in the game session. The wild die(ce) was on my side and I stopped the speeder from crashing.
After lifting the speeder into the tunnel I lit my saber and started on the thugs manning it. The first one out of the speeder was a lizard like alien that quickly lost his head in the confusion. The next two guys out of the speeder were human thugs. One turned and ran, while the other one started to turn his weapon on me…big mistake. I went into the speeder and caught two other guys trying to escape out the other side door. Having their backs turned certainly didn’t help their defensive abilities.
PRESTO! Another dsp for the collection. Not very smart but good fun… Now I have two dark side points that I need to get rid of.
I tried arguing that I let one of them get away and that I actually shouted surrender or die before I attacked the second one… _________________ Random is who random does... |

I'd say the merc should be...concerned...obviously none of those bad things would have happend if he hadn't been so cowardly and incompetent.
Note: this is not intended as a slam against the Merc. It's just my GM Dark Side talking to Random's failed Jedi.

I actually could see that merc potentially getting a warning for his triggerhappyness.... especially if any bystanders got caught by it. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Oh, yeah I was definitely thinking the failed Jedi with two DSPs who has just slaughtered a speeder full of opponents after nearly ending up smeared on the side of the shaft as collateral damage by the trigger happy merc would definitely be issuing some kind of ... warning....possibly of the head meet bulkhead variety. |

Stuff like this happens to us all the time... And with comedy like this (you had to be there to fully understand the merc) it's impossible to stay mad even in game.
But aside from that, the merc is certainly not in my character's good book after this one. We were having a heated discussion about some random stuff after the fight and the sleazy Twilek had to step in.
With my whopping 2d in Wiillpower and 4d (minus dsp included) in control I'm not too cocky about letting myself in situations were I might be tempted to turn to violence. _________________ Random is who random does... |

Im the benign GM in the above session.
These kind of things happen to this group all the time. A combination of bad timing, not paying attention to what others are doing and a bad case of trigger happiness usually sets the whole thing up.
One also has to remember that a few sessions back the same Merc, trying to put a thermal among 10 stormtroppers setting up in a ship corridor to blast him, both managed to incinerate the stormtroopers but also turned the group Wookie into a naked wookie.. Fortunately the Wookie was charging the 10 stormies from another angle (it was a crossing) and had just spent a FP to manage this. This meant that the STR 5D+2 Wookie actually survived the 49 damage the Merc rolled (12D from being in an enclosed space). There was a lot of Nekkid Wookie jokes though.. _________________ My Biggest Beard Retard award goes to: The Admiral of course.. |

Maybe we could diagnose the merc with Naked Wookie Syndrome? A compulsion to turn wookies into Chinese crested dogs... _________________ Random is who random does... |
