Yes, you did, but my computer doesn't want to run it. Apparently I need a different COMDLG32.OCX file, and I'm not certain I want to risk downloading and installing one from the net. |

There is currently no solution for that.
Im working on a new version of the app however that will not try to update itself (it will have an update feature thou so it can still be updated by clicking on one button and you dont have to search for files and check versions yourself), it will also feature both Linux and Windows versions.
Any requests for features will be considered. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Please do let us know when the self-updating version will be available. _________________ __________________________________

I will post on this forum once any version is released, sense Im redoing it from the ground up it will take me probably a week to get it ready.
So far I have done (and are currently testing) a Launcher app, that starts the different things you want to do (character generator, GM Tool etc), it also handles all the updates as well as installs, that is you install the launcher, start it, click install and then click on the app you want to install and it downloads the latest version for you.
This is similar to the previous only it uses a completely different system in the background as well as the "new" install feature that wasn't present on the old one.
So far I have gotten it to both update and install apps, just need to run a couple of checks on it.
And again, any suggestions or requests will be considered.
A new feature will also be that the apps will run on both Linux and windows (different files needs to be downloaded naturally), this will help me develop it faster sense I use Linux on a daily basis. If there is enough interest for it I might do a Mac version as well (post a reply or send a private PM if this interest you).
The save/export files will work on any platform, so you will be able to create a character on a Linux system, save/export it and then open it on a windows system. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Im currently working on the character creator/tracker software, and its slow work sense its a lot of text to write down and so on.
I could use some help if anyone feels up to it, the thing I need help with is pictures, Im looking for pictures of the different templates, species, equipment and weapons in the main book (Second edition revised and expanded), they dont have to be the ones in the book (those are probably copyrighted to) but something similar. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

I have made an installer for the application now, only the launcher/updater and character tools have anything done on them at all.
Most of the work so far has gone into the Launcher/updater, so the character tool doesn't do very much at the moment. But updates will be coming for it as time allows me to work on it. So far I have compiled it for 64-bit Linux and for Windows (tested on a clean Windows XP install and works there).
If anyone wants to test it just send me a PM and Ill give you a link, main reason Im not just posting it here is because it still lacks any really useful features, a public link will come once I added a bit more to the character generator.
Anyone who does test it should know that any feedback is welcome, suggestions, bugs etc but its not required. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

I have been able to work a little one the Character Generator now, it still doesn't do mush, I have added save/load for the character, options.
Should be able to get some more work done this week unless something unexpected happens.
If anyone wants to try it out right now just send me a PM or reply to this thread and Ill give you the installer. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

I have gotten some more work done on the character tool.
save and loading works for equipment (not weapons, armor etc).
added some options to it.
you get the template equipment when selecting template
template related skills (force skills as well as only being able to select skills from the template like the rules say but there is an option to allow any skills as well).
selecting skills to raise and both saving and loading of the changed skills.
special abilities and story factors from species are displayed (does not effect character creation in any way however).
for the next update I plan add the remaining equipment (weapons, armor etc), and force powers.
I plan to make it as versatile as possible, once I get the Data Edit tool done you will be able to change, remove etc things like force skills (saw someone using only one skill instead of Alter, Control and Sense, and this will work once I get that far).
I dont know how well it will work for others at the moment sense I only tested it on my own computer and one virtual computer running windows XP (clean install), the only thing I do know that can cause problems are that you have to have write access to the install location for it to work. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |

Not everyone uses Windows, and VB based software isn't terribly crossplatform, generally. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

I know and I'm not making it in windows or VB, I'm actually using Linux myself, and using c++ for this application, as well as doing everything cross platform as far as possible (some minor things in the code might be platform dependent but then I will write code for both Linux and Windows and Mac OS X).
This is NOT made with VB.
It IS made using C++.
Only requirement will be to download the right file (sense it is a compiled program), I have currently "only" compiled it for 64-bit Linux and 32-bit Windows (windows version works on 64-bit as well). This is due to the fact that I run 64-bit OS, if there is a request for it I will compile a 32-bit Linux version as well (this will be done later anyway but if anyone wants to test it before then that is).
Also the files that cheshire(?) has available for download is NOT the version I'm working on now. _________________ Visit My site to download the Star Wars d6 Tools: Its a work in progress |
