Doing some more D20 - D6 conversions and I've got a question. D20 has a skill called Balance. What would that skill be in D6? Looking at the Rebellion's conversion guidelines their is no listing for Balance and a D6 equivalent. I'm not sure if I should just ignore it or if their is a skill that would fit. Seems like it would be a Dexterity skill to me. Or maybe even add it to the Dexterity die rather than as a skill? _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

In D20 games, balance is a rarely used skills, mainly used by some rogue-types for tightrope walking, gaining sure footing on steep roofs and such. It also gives synergy boni to acrobatics and whatnot.
I personally would integrate balance into the running skill in D6 to reflect body control and sure footing. We have enough skills in the system to worry about already and I feel skills like this aren't really all that needed. It would implicate that a great sprinter is automatically a good tightrope walker though... |

I would probably add it to Dexterity, myself...since it would be more a function of Dexterity than any existing skill. |

Call it Acrobatics or even Balance.
Have it under the Dex Ability.
Great thing is, it's your game so you can create whatever skills you like. |

There actually exists an Acrobatics skill under Strength. Trianii characters have normal access to that:
Special Strength Skills:
Acrobatics: Time to use: One round. This is the skill of tumbling, jumping and other complex movements. This skill is often used in sports and athletic competitions, or as part of dance. Characters making acrobatics rolls can also reduce falling damage. The difficulty is based on the distance fallen.
Distance Fallen Difficulty Reduce Damage By:
3 - 6 Very Easy -2D
7 - 8 Easy -2D+2
9 - 12 Moderate -3D
13 - 15 Difficult -3D+2
16+ Very Difficult -4D |

I think I would go the same way as Volar and put it as a bonus to tightrope walking under DEX.
Adding it as a straight bonus to DEX is a little extreme, IMO. Balance is only part of dexterity, and shouldn't give a straight bonus to everything under that attribute. |

Actually, it's more for a homebrew sourcebook for the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. I've been working on converting some of what WotC has on Kyle and I was looking to see if there was any equivalent or if it should got to his DEX dice without haveing make up a skill.
Though this thing is starting to get out of hand. Started off just planning on doing conversions of the Dark Forces stats they had on their site and now I'm adding stuff they don't have. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

I was going to do something similar with the KoTOR d20 book that some nice folks did a while back, but I quickly realized that with my one d20 book, I didn't know what half the feats used were...=P
Didn't know there was an Acrobatics skill (from a supplement, I take it?), but since Tumbling would correspond with that nicely, I would probably go with adding Balance to Dex, personally. |

According to the Rebellion's conversion guidelines, Tumble is the equivalent of WEG's Dodge. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

I'll look through the two corebooks tonight...but isn't the defensive bonus actually supposed to *be* dodging in Star Wars d20? |

Well, on their website, WotC has a set of D6-D20 guidlines in which they say Dodge is either not applicable or is the feat Lightning Reflexes. So it does look to be possible that Dodge is more than defensive coding. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

That's funny...because the d20 Revised corebook pretty much explains the Defense Bonus as the ability to dodge.
Just goes to show that there's no such thing asa perfect conversion...=) |
