Element of Fire - IC- Episode III The Hunt

[Hellcat]

The vehicle moves closer to the creature, finally being on top of it. This close the crew can see the creature has an armored hide, even the wings have a pebbly texture to them that says their not as weak as normally expected. The creatures powerful looking tail is studded with spikes along the last 1/8 of it. It's toes end in viscious looking claws and both jaws are filled with wickedly sharp teeth. What appears to be green saliva drops from an open mouth, splattering on the ground below and seeming to smoke where it hits.

(OOC: The KAWD misses it's command roll, 2CP used. Reylan and Roth sense an incoming attack. I didn't roll your roll yet Vong as the only thing you said was you'd move even closer to the wall and I'd like to give you a chance to specify exactly what you want to try.)

Reylan continues to concentrate on the timing of his manoeuvre.

ooc: Basically what Reylan is trying to do is prevent a close combat attack from the flying creature. if it does a swooping attack along their path of travel, just getting closer to the wall is enough (as its wings will hit the wall, and it will fall from the sky). if he does a lateral attack, well then he hits the wall full force. Since he is not attacking us this round, no need for moving closer, but next round move really close to the wall to basically use it as cover from the attack.

The KAWD takes a shot on the left eye of the left creature. It shudders a little, just like when Ali shot it.

Ali will attempt to shoot the flying creature in the left eye of its left head at the time specified by KAWD.


OOC: Did Ali's shot or KAWD's second shot affect it's flying at all beyond a shudder?

Roth pipes up quickly. "Be ready for evasive. We're about to be attacked..."

He pulls out his pulse wave weapon and aims at the left eye on the creature's left head, attempting to add damage to the others' shots.

((OOC: Taking a round to aim.))

[Mandalore]

"Osik osik osik!!", Ailyn bites out. She then switches her aim to the rider of the beast. She'll aim carefully, and squeeze off a shot.

(OOC 1: Roth now has lightsaber combat up. Roth doesn't have a pulse-wave weapon. He can try borrowing one of the droid's disc launchers. All Ali's first shot and the KAWD's second shot did was to stun the creature, the shuddering was the only noticeable effect of this.)

Ali

Ali attempts to line her shot up with the creature's eye and opens fire. The pulse-wave bolt misses the left eye of the left head, but still strikes the creature's head. There's no noticeable effects against the creature.

Roth

[i]Roth goes to draw a pulse-wave only to discover he doesn't have one. He looks around the bed of the speedertruck for any kind of ranged weapon, his eyes falling on four of the disc launchers the mutated Jawas used in their attack on Anchorhead.

Reylan

Both droids get off a second shot on the monster as Reylan senses an emminent attack coming. He just barely manages to swerve the vehicle close to the side of the canyon wall, getting no closer than half a meter as Ailyn is hanging out the window and aiming at their attacker. Even as he begins his manuever he's shocked to see the creature open the mouth on it's left head. Lightning rips through right where the speeder truck was barely a second before. Reylan realizes suddenly this creature doesn't need to swoop down to get them. He suddenly gets a second sense of emminent danger.


Ali, Daevon, KAWD, Roth

The droids and Jedi watch in shock as the creature opens the mouth on it's left head and lightning spews out. Reylan manages to swerve out of the path of the creatures attack. Roth's eyes get big as he suddenly feels again the same thing he felt a moment ago.

Ailyn

Ailyn holds her fire, waiting. Lightning erupts from the two-head beast's left head. Somehow the Jedi, Reylan, seem's to anticipate the blast even before the creature hurl's it at them and moves the speeder to within half a meter of the canyon wall. Ailyn realizes if she leans any further out the window she'll be scraped along it, likely to her death.

The manuever throws off her aims a little. She barely manages to compensate and takes her shot at the rider. She see's them give a slight shutter, but otherwise nothing seems to happen.

(OOC 2: Ok, Vong and Mandalore's actions happened the round after both droids took a second shot. The rider is now stunned. The creature is still stunned twice. Both Reylan and Roth sense another attack. Next round you will be past the creature, but it may turn to follow.)

Ali will aim at the dragon's (I assume that's what it is or at least resembles) left eye on its left head waiting to see if KAWD calls for another barrage or not. If it does not, she will aim for a round and fire next round. If it does, she will fire at the specified time.



OOC: If I remember right, we are in the desert in or near a canyon. Is the creature close to any walls, outcroppings, rocks, or anything similar? How close are we to the creature?

Error massed fire ineffective. Krath Advanced War Droid unable to compensate for variance in proficiency levels and dissonance within individuals capable of ranged fire. Upgrade needed. Targeting of eye caused visible reaction. Continue targeting eye.

Reylan shouts "Hold on!" and swerves away from the wall realizing the futility in that. As he does, he slams the throttle to maximum sending the vehicle vaulting forward, hopefully throwing off the aim of the beast's attack.

KAWD

The KAWD opens up on the creature's eye. Once again the creature shudders but is otherwise unaffected by the shot.

Reylan

Sensing the attack, Reylan swerves away from the cliff wall and guns the engine. As the speeder truck suddenly surges forward he sees Ailyn go flying out the window.

"Catch her!" he hears someone, he's not sure if it's the Jedi Master, Syllri, or Giric, shout."

Immediately behind the speeder a wall of flame erupts, incenrating what little plant life might have been their in an instant. Reylan spares a glance over his shoulder to see the creature surge ahead as well, smoke and steam streaming from it's right mouth, but it's no match for the speeder's burst.

Ali

Ali takes careful aim, watching as the creature shudders once more under the KAWD's third shot. Sensing the time is almost right, she slowly begins to squeeze off a shot.

"Hold on!"

Reylan's sudden burst of speed throw's an unprepared Ali off her feet, causing her shot to go wide. She finds herself striking the very back of the speeder truck and tripping over it.

"Grab her!" she hears Cailum shout, but as she starts going over she can see him and two of the other Jedi making a play for Ailyn as she goes flying out the window.

"Got you!" The giant alien shouts as he wraps his arms around Ali's metalic thighs. Relieved, Ali activates the magnets in her feet, which firmly clamp onto the rear of the speeder truck. She's surprised to see she managed to hang onto the rifle.

Roth

"Hold on!"

Roth has no time to brace himself as Reylan's sudden manuever and burst of speed throws him over against Syllri. He looks up and back to see a stream of fire erupt from the creature's right mouth.

"Catch her!" Cailum shouts. Roth has just enough time to tur around and see Ailyn being thrown out the window by Reylan's sudden move. Without thinking, he acts on the Master's order, reaching out and grabbing Ailyn around the waist. He can feel Syllri doing the same to him, keeping him from flying out with her.

Daevon

"Hold on!" Reylan shouts.

Daevon just barely has time to start bracing himsef before Reylan's manuever. It's still not enough to keep from falling back against the back of the truck. He looks over the edge as Giric catches the droid, Ali, around her thighs. He sees a wall of flame erupt behind them even as he hear's Ali's feet clamp onto the tail of the speeder truck. Reaching over the edge he helps Giric begin to pull the droid back into the speeder.

Ailyn

"Hold on!"

Ailyn has no chance to brace herself before being thrown out the window by Reylan's sudden manuever. Her thoughts are on whether or not her armor would protect her against the sudden impact at this speed, but deep down she knows it won't.

"Catch her!" Cailum shouts. The younger human, Roth, reaches over the edge of the speeder and just barely manages to wrap his arms around her waist as Cailum grabs her left arm in a death grip. They begin hauling her into the back. She feels her rifle go flying.

KAWD

"Hold on!"

The KAWD has no chance to brace itself and is thrown back in the bed of the truck. It lands hard just as the prisoner goes flying out the window.

"Catch her!" someone shouts. It sees Cailum, Syllri, and Roth all leap to the prisoner's assistance, catching her just in time.

At the same time it sees her rifle go flying. It lashes out with it's whip, just barely manging to wrap it around the barrel and pull it into the truck before it's lost.

(OOC: the creature is stunned three times. You're now moving at all out so 240; 800 kmh. Very Easy, Easy, and Moderate difficulties to manuevering increased by one level, all others by two levels. The creature will already be out of range at the end of the round.)

Reylan glances back to see if Ailyn had been caught, and is relieved when she is and shouts "Sorry" to everyone, not used to being solo in a chase. He will have to make a note to be less aggressive with his manoeuvres.

Reylan allows the Force to guide his hands, keeping the cliff wall well away, and hopefully this creatures breath attack.

ooc: Evasive Manoeuvres, but not enough to dislodge people hopefully.

Reylan zigs and zags in order to avoid being attacked by the creature. In no time at all he's out stripped it and plows through the mutated Jawas that had been on the horizon, only now at the speeds their traveling at the horizon is no longer out in the distance.. By now they have been joined by more mutated creatures Reylan's never seen but which look vaguely humanoid. A couple of the mutated Jawas and one of the new creatures are unable to get out of the way of the speeding speeder truck. Blood splatters the windshield as the Jawas blow apart from the force othe the impact. The upper half to the new mutated creature slides up over the back of the cap and drops in next to where Giric and Daevon are pulling Ali back in.

(OOC: Collision at all out speed is 10D, +3D for a head on crash, +2D speeder scale. You got 49 on a 15D roll, the mutated Jawas got 15 and 21 each to resist damage and the other got 17. Let's just say they never had a chance. You did get 22, 19, and 18 to resist damage in the collision and they got 15, 18, and three to deliver damage to the speeder truck)

"Thank you," Ali says to Giric and Daveon as the pull her back onboard.

Once secure in the back of the truck, Ali will attempt to hurl the mutant out of the vehicle. (help hurl it if it is uncharacteristically big/heavy) She will then make herself low and move up towards the front of the truck bed, and hold on to the front or the side of the truck bed for stability and to hopefully avoid being thrown out.
