I am thinking of making my next character someone who started out going through Royal guard training, but for what ever reason flunked out and so took his skills (to honor the empire) on the road (so to speak) by competing at martial art tourniments, where both weapon kata's and actual combat take place.
Which template would be good? What weapon would you suggest (i am actually thinking of the 'crimson guard specific' double ended Vibro stave, but alas as per the equipment book, it is SPECIFIC to them only... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

I believe there are a couple of Gladiator templates. I know for sure there's a Barabel Shockboxer template. Though, you may not want to be a Barabel. (then again, I dunno, maybe you do?)
Martial Arts tournaments generally aren't to the death, so I'm not sure about using a Vibro weapon. Mostly blunt weapons, entangling weapons or weapons with a stun setting. _________________ Han - "How're we doin'?"

... Wouldn't the Stormtrooper, Coruscant Guard and Imperial Royal Guard templates be the most sensible? If that's where the character is coming from, that's where his skill sets would have been developed. As for a weapon, Force Pike (Imperial Guard) and Taser Staff (Coruscant Guard) are reasonable.
One thing to consider here, if you flunk out of Royal Guard training, you're likely dead That's kind of how you fail that training. Your backstory is going to have to cover how the hell you got off of Yinchorr with your life... and you're likely being hunted by the Empire for desertion; only the brightest, toughest and most loyal were considered for the Crimson Guard. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

I was thinking more on the aspect of rather than flat out being a failure, he was dropped out for other reasons (such as say high level political ties from family getting him out when they had a number of deaths, and the imps gave him a discharge like our military does), and his going into the circuit was his way of keeping honoring the imp military. BUT while there, and out and about he starts seeing things that force him to question his loyalty to the Imperial order.... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |
