You might want to think about using the first one then, I can alway tweak the face (or even transplant). From a practical point-of-view, the extra equipment does make sense (it would help disguise a slighter build and and curves). The ponytail would also make it considerably easier to tuck her hair into the helmet. I can also tweek the boots so that the heel is a little less high-heel like (maybe even give them a more platform like appearance to hide a lack of height she might have).

ZzaphodD: You might want to take a gander at this guy.

Orgaloth: Here ya go, sorry about not getting it done sooner.

My feelings about the prequels aside, I find that I have a soft spot for The Clones.

@Reaper63

The first pic was best, a bit old though (as you mentioned). Think a spoiled brat who has managed to get away with some of his familys wealth and now has had a few rough years. During this time he has slowly fallen into a downards spiral of decandence but also a building supressed anger against the empire. Karrde might fit the character in a few years if fighting the empirs has again filled his life with purpose. At the moment the character is in no such shape...

@Hazardchris. The same as above really, he looks a bit to 'clean cut' for what Im looking for. However, that pic is perfect for one of my (going to be) reaccuring Imperial Security agents...(a competent one who will dog the player group)..

I actually think that this pic would work with a few modifications..

Change the dagger for a bottle of Corellian Whiskey and put something smokeable in the corner of his mouth (a Deathstick)..

Chris, I have tried some colouring and shading with Gimp, but I cant get the hang of changing pictures and for example put new stuff into the pic.. Of course, I dont have a drawing pad, if that helps.. How do you go around putting new weapons and items into the pics?

Here's what I usually do when I want to change the color of something.

1) I use what's called the "Polygonal Lasso Tool" and quickly outline the area that I want.

2) I use the "copy layer" (it's CTRL+J on photoshop) to make a copy of that part of the image above the original.

3) I hide the base image so that only my copied portion is visible, then begin to use the eraser tool to gently crop out any portions of the image that I don't want to modify at this moment.

After this there are two divergent paths I can take, depending on how drastic a re-coloring job I have in front of me.

4a) The quickest was is to use the Hue/Saturation tool and just change the color with the slider under "Hue". This changes the base pallet along that color wheel you likely saw in high school art class. If your image is roughly one color then it should work out nicely.

4b) Otherwise, I convert the object into a black and white image (changing the brightness and contrast settings as needed to achieve the easiest to re-color setting). Then I just use the re-color tool to make it whatever I want.

It takes some getting used to and lots of practice. Just to give you an idea of how I've progressed as I've learned to use Photoshop, here's three versions of the same character that I've updated as my familiarity and skill has grown.

As you can see, there has been some improvement with my skills over the years. The best advice that I can give is learn how to use layers. They will be you best ally in photo manipulation.

So, just stick with it, read tutorials, and practice. Image manipulation programs have a staggeringly steep learning curve.

Ah, but you see, that's the thing, here's where the backstory comes in. She is not actively trying to disguise herself. She doesn't need to. Everyone in the force, heck, most everyone on the planet, from the governor on down, knows she's a girl (some are less okay with it than others, but that's another story). And she's far from the only woman in the corps – the vehicle specialist in her very own squad, "Tenjo's Thorns", is one too, for example. It's just that she's using armor as close to standard issue as possible with her build (it helps that she's rather modestly endowed) – she considers altering the armor to look more female, especially just for looks sake, to be completely unnecessary and frankly a ridiculous concept (and don't even approach her with the idea of her wearing heels, into combat or anywhere else, if you value your health). It's also a solidarity thing with her men and the rest of the force. In effect people who don't know who she is and have never seen a female Stormie before tend to be surprised at how slight and short this guy is for a Stormtrooper, until she takes the helmet off (the voice would be something of a giveaway, but the helmet distorts that too). Game-wise, I'd put the Search difficulty of determining her gender through the armor by observation alone somewhere at high end Difficult. It's actually something of an inside joke in the unit. The troopers, in private and publicly, invariably and strictly as per regulations refer to her only ever as "Sergeant Tenjo" and "Sir", so there is no way to infer her gender from their talk, and they place silent bets on if a stranger will ever figure it out. My PC's sure didn't Very Happy And they accidentally overheard the troopers conspirationally speculating on when will the sergeant and the sergeant's boyfriend finally get it on Very Happy My players are quite open-minded, so it wasn't as awkward as it could be, but still, their faces were priceless Very Happy

Sorry, got carried away. I could talk my NPC's (and PC's too, actually) for hours. But couldn't we all? Razz
So, she probably does carry that extra gear in the field – her squad is somewhat of a special missions unit – but not to hide who she is. I was hoping for a cleaner, less cluttered look, like for parade or guard duty, or a motivational poster picture. That's why I want the hair down too – on duty she wears it in a tight bun, but this is supposed to be like her "essential" look, the one showcasing all her personality and style. And I definitely hoped for a more frontal, open shot. The "femtrooper chick" is just not it.

If you're not tired of my whining yet, could you please take one last stab at finding something suitable? Maybe try a small-looking male trooper if one is available? I'm looking myself, but so far no joy. If nothing turns up I think I've got a contingency plan, but let's try to find something closer to optimum one more time first.

My time's a little tight right now so, while I don't have the time to go rummaging through pictures of stormtroopers, I can point you in the direction of the best repository that I know.

While it's not a piece of artwork, I did run across these pictures of a girl in stormtrooper costume.

One.
Two.
Three.

Nice! Hazardchris, could you point me in a direction for a similar repository but of pirate pictures? I don't even need Star Wars pirates, traditional real world pirates or pics from some other game would do. I just need some pirate art to use as a starting point.

And again with the fraking, this time even more ridiculous, heels (I loathe those things so, in artwork and real life too, really I do...). Sigh...
The pose looks promising, though. I could probably find a head to match. Could you make it look more like a drawn picture instead of a photo, so a cartoon head wouldn't stick out too much? And, more importantly, could you substitute the (absurd, butt-ugly, grr...) heels with normal Stormie boots?

In the meantime, let's check the feasibility of the contingency plan.
Could you take this body:
Body
and graft on one of those heads? (listed in the rough order of desirebility):
Head 1
Head 2
Head 3

If this comes off, maybe we'll just forget the whole-body shot. I'll do that one myself sometime, the old-fashioned, hard way...

Damn, I'm feeling bad for being such a picky customer. Especially since I'm not even paying anything for it, and you so helpfull and all...

Shouldn't be too hard.

From a sheer artistic perspective, I think that the third image might be a better fit, color-wise, for the image.

Wow.
No, that's okay. I love it. It's perfect. It came out looking much better than I expected. Let me say again, you do amazing work. And you make it look easy Razz
Thank you so much for your time and effort.

Could I have anoter request sometime, or is this a strictly "one person - one pic" affair?

If that were the case, ZzaphodD would be SOL. Razz

Speaking of ZzaphodD, I'll take a crack at modifiing it and take some screen shots and what have you along the way so that I can keep a record of what I'm doing -- then share the process.
