|
|
In Chapter ten of GG9 : Fragments from the Rim there is the description of Lightsaber training. The five steps of training are called cadences.
A brief reminder of the difficulties of these cadences : Quote: | First cadence :
- Moderate control roll or Easy sense roll (for placing the candles, etc.)
- Moderate lightsaber roll and Moderate control roll
Second cadence :
- Moderate control roll or Easy sense roll (for placing the candles, etc.)
- Heroic lightsaber roll and Moderate control roll or Moderate lightsaber roll and Difficult control roll
(rolling six times for finishing the cadence)
Third cadence :
- Difficult sense roll (for placing the candles, etc.)
- Heroic lightsaber roll and Heroic+15 control roll and Difficult sense roll
(rolling three times for finishing the cadence)
Fourth cadence :
- Heroic lightsaber roll and Heroic+25 control roll and Heroic sense roll
- Difficult knowledge roll or Difficult control roll (for performing complex computations)
(rolling 24 times for finishing the cadence)
Fifth cadence :
- Heroic+25 lightsaber roll and Heroic+35 control roll and Heroic+25 sense roll
- Difficult knowledge roll or Difficult control roll (for performing complex computations)
(rolling 18 times for finishing the cadence)
To conclude the fifth cadence : Heroic control roll and Heroic+60 telekinesis roll (for moving the lightsaber using telekinesis) |
Who could manage 18 times in a row Heroic+35 rolls ?
(you need about 18D to succeed a Heroic+35 roll half the time)
And what about the Heroic+60 telekinesis rolls ?
***
Well, are Jedi supposed to use Force points for this kind of training ? (it is about the same with the Oxygen Bottle : sense rolls of 60 )
And if the answer is 'yes' will they get their Force point back ? |

I think the idea is that the higher ones are supposed to be extremely difficult. Only someone like master Yoda would even have a prayer at the fifth one. _________________ The only words of explanation you need for any concept in the entire Star Wars universe are the words Science Fiction and Space Opera. |

Agreed. It shouldn't be an easy task to become a master at the art of using a lightsaber. _________________ Got Mynock Spit? |

Well my main question was about Force points (using and regaining them), since it is obvious one need to use them in order to achieve such results.
Is using Force points for such a training considered 'Heroic'* (and so you gain Force points back) or not ?
*: Maybe it is since this trainning may increase your connection to the Force... |

I think that since a heroic+35 roll needs to be around 65-70, then you only need 20 dice to perform it. Sound high? if a starting level jedi can have Dex 4 and Lightsaber 4 (not to mention force skills adding in) then YES, a master would far outstrip this, and be capable of such things. Bear in mind that there are other force powers which would aid these tests. _________________ Alpha 513 reporting for duty, sir. |

It might be up to the GM, but I'd think that if your training so as to better protect yourself and others somewhere down the road then maybe you could make the arguement that your doing something that requires a heroic effort now so that later you can succed at doing something heroic without as much effort. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Perhaps if the Jedi meditated extensively beforehand and devoted a great deal of time to perfecting his lightsaber skill, a return of a force point or two would not be out of the question. _________________ The only words of explanation you need for any concept in the entire Star Wars universe are the words Science Fiction and Space Opera. |

Perhaps the last cadences are intentially designed to be unachievable? _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

Can you use the Concentration or Increase Attribute powers for these?
If so, they require only trust in the Force and some initial skill. :) _________________ Ooo, a droid! Can I fix it?

Quote: | Perhaps the last cadences are intentially designed to be unachievable? | It is supposed to be "the mark of a Jedi Master"...
So there might be a way of achieving it (for a Jedi Master of course ) |

Our best Jedi character (9D Con 8D Sen 7D Alt) role played these exercises constantly. He completed the third lightsaber cadence. That was it.

That's how our Jedi did it. And no, he did not get his force points back because completing an exercise is not heroic. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.
