Im looking for the old scaling rules. I remember you used the same number of dice, but the dice were capped depending on what scales were interacting.
Something like this (from the top of my head).
Code: |
Char. Speed. Walk. Star. Cap.
Character 1-6 1-3 1-2 1 -
Speeder 1-6 1-3 1-2 -
Walker 1-6 1-3 1
Starfighter 1-2
Capital 1-6
|
Edit: Crappy code function, but you get the idea right?
Anyone have the actual numbers? I liked this system as it kept the same number of dice and just changed the 'size' of the dice.
1st Edition Stun. I have a vague memory that you became stunned when the damage was only half the resistance roll (ie Str + Armor). Is this correct? |

Which scaling/ cap system do you want. There were actually two slightly different ones.
The difference between the two is that one used a "drop cap" that is any result over the cap was dropped, where the other used a "max cap" (any result over the cap was treated as the cap value). |

Actually our GM used what seems to be a house rule. The caps where treated as dice with the same number of sides as the dice. So for a 1-4 cap we rerolled any results until we got a number between 1 and 4.
What Im looking for is actually the 'official' numbers for the caps (like my table above but with the real numbers). If the numbers where different in the two systems (max and drop cap) I please note what system you are quoting. |

Here is the chart from the 2nd Edition Star Wars. It worked on the premise that if the amount rolled on the die was higher than the cap, it counted as the capped number. So if the cap was 4 and you rolled a 5, it counted only as a 4. It didn't drop the die completely.
Only the Rules Companion version actually dropped the die that was capped.

Great! Now I have something to work with.
Regarding stuns, Am I correct that any hit that did not wound the target caused a stun? |
