Ok heres a longshot...perhaps a quiz even
AFAIK the EU includes all the SW comics released?
I once read a SW comic where Luke Skywalker suddenly encountered a TIE fighter in the middle of nowhere (given the fact that it doesnt have a hyperdrive). He then eventually discovered an Imperial base 'inside' a gas giant planet. The 'base' was actually some sort of facility floating inside the outer layer of the gas giant. I suppose it must have some kind of locomotive power (even hyperdrive) but cant remember. Also cant remember any names.
Its a cool idea, and I like to see if theres anything out there regarding this (or a similar) base.

Cloud City on Bespin would be similiar, so it is feasible. Personally I haven't heard of it. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

No, its actually inside a gas giant, so its concealed from view. |

i ran a game with something like that. it floated in the inner atmosphere of a gas giant. it was a big archaic factory, built by someone long ago. big automated dump truck like ships brought materials from the system's asteroid belt for materials. the player characters sabotaged it and it fell into the gas giant and ignited it into a star, 2010 style. _________________ D&D 5e DM and WEG Star Wars GM for two kids who will hopefully carry on with RPGs for years to come

The EU used to not include most of the material from the original Marvel comic series. It was originally assigned the canon status of Secondary, meaning that elements from it may become canon by being used or referred to in a c-canon sources, but the events of the stories themselves are not canon. More recently there was a change in official policy that opened things up to say that all secondary canon was c-canon, except for the contradictory elements. Of course, something doesn't have to have a certain canon status or be a part of the EU to be a cool idea for use in the RPG.

Cosmology nerd, here. He's right. Cloud City on Bespin is similar. Bespin is a gas giant (and its outer layer is largely breathable, transparent air). But Cloud City has to technically be "inside" the gas giant, or it would be a space station out in space. And even using "concealed from view" as a criteria, it's still similar to Bespin because Cloud City is concealed from view... by all the clouds. Sorry to get all "science guy" on you, but I wanted to back-up Orgaloth because he was not incorrect. 8)
But I think I know what you mean... A base hidden inside of a non-breathable, non-transparent layer of a gas giant. No, I don't remember that comic issue (I had so few of those), but it is a cool idea! I saw a Star Trek episode where they had to rescue a ship that was in a decaying orbit inside of a gas giant and I thought that was pretty cool. The base wouldn't have to have a hyperdrive because it could have been plopped there by a star destroyer or something. It would likely at least have repulsorlift power to not sink, like Cloud City. _________________ *

I must not have gotten that far in the series. I got up to death fight or whatever, my girlfriend managed to find me the first dark horse trade release of that comic series. I read it, but never got to finish. |
