They're a survivor race. Their home planet was destroyed in some ancient disaster (perhaps caused by them) so there aren't a whole lot of them left. The 'jedi potential' in most races is low so in a race with fewer members it should be almost unheard of but not outside the realms of possibility. Just because someone doesn't like the Jedi doesn't mean they don't have the ability to be one.
They may not be able to stomach the training needed to be an actual Jedi though and may just end up being a force user rather than a Jedi. Of course you can always pull the whole Jedi potential detected at birth (prophecy or perhaps some other Jedi had a vision) and just say that the child was taken away from the Ubese envirionment early. This would probably negate some of the species bonuses though.
It may not be possible for him to have his cake and eat it too.

I know very little about jedi powers but detoxify poison sounds like a good place to start. As far as I know a type one atmosphere is poison to Ubese. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

I would say yes to the ubese, but no to the force power instead of breather. First of all, let's assume that he was powerful enough in the Force to draw enough methane from the atmosphere to breathe. (IIRC they are methane breathers.) If he gets wounded ever then he's going to have to drop whatever power he was keeping up in order to do it. If he fails the new roll, then he's dead because he was wounded. No one in their right minds would bet on those odds. Even if your player was out of his mind, I doubt his character would be. _________________ __________________________________
Before we take any of this too seriously, just remember that in the middle episode a little rubber puppet moves a spaceship with his mind. |

Why does he want the power anyway? Ubese can't speak in a volume louder than a whisper so he'll probably need some sort of amplification to be heard in most cases and they dislike showing their faces as well so a breather works for an Ubese on a number of levels. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

He won't be very popular with other Ubese, though. |
