Got a question. Like said before, Hapans get 6+13=19D in attributes, Twi'lek get 6+11=17D and most of the races get 6+12=18D.

What about Hutts?

They have 14D attribute dice, so they should get 6+14=20D, but their minimal dexterity is only 0D+1. So do they get 19D+1 or 20D?

20d. (14d+6d)

I think you're confused. The minimum Dexterity won't affect their Attributes. The Attribute minimum/maximum is just that; a Hutt can have between 0d+1 and 3d Dexterity.

Thanks J. I know I've looked into Hutt characters before, and I didn't recall an issue with running out of places to allocate dice with their min/max set up, but didn't have access to my stats books to recheck.

That to me just seems wrong. IMO all races for pcs should get the standard 18d...

Yeah, 20d for a Hutt seems a little high, doesn't it?

It does sound high... but I disagree on the standard 18d thing. This has been a central theme of a few other threads, so I guessit doesn't really need to becl reiterated here Smile

That's easily solved, don't allow PCs to play races with starting attributes higher than 18d

That doesn't make sense for me. What is most important about races is that they are different. Only making every player to have 3D on all attributes would make it fair & square. And no racial abilities.

Verpine have 2D bonus for technical skills. Is it unfair? In fact it's a bonus 2D in attribute dice with cheaper skill learning, but Verpine maxes are pretty low, so no naturally skilled Verpine bounty hunter for example. Wookies are stronger than most of the races. They cannot speak basic though. What about Twi'leks? They are very popular race and they have only 17D. Still they have their lekku. Wink Hutts have 20D, but their standard move is 0 and maximum is 4. Having such a Hutt in a team (even if it's not very realistic) equals that there is no escape without leaving a mate, because he hardly moves, if he does at all. And he slows down rest of the team for most of the time.

Besides, if characters are bit experienced, their skills are becoming more important than attributes. Their most important attribute in result is strenght, because it's tested against damage no matter what. No Wookiees? Imagine Star Wars without Wookiees...

My solution is: you want to play a particular race? Make your character realistic - with background, with roleplaying, with certain attitude or whatever. If player deserves to play this race, then why not giving him it's racial advantage? After all players shouldn't compete about who is better. If they should at all, I think they should about who roleplays better. Wink

In D20 there are rules about Aging of the character. Were there any such rules for D6?

Not listed. the best i saw was a house rule back when i was stationed in St Mawgan UK, where once a HUMAN character hit 60, he started losing 1 pip from Dex, Str and Know each 5 years due to age. Adjust accordingly for other races, though i have NEVER seen official ages for any race.

Yeah, the closest that WEG did was mention that some stats of people like Mon Mothma had lowered with age.

Its obvious that STR and DEX should be lowered. What about PER? In D6 it is your eyes, hear, tase and 'charisma'. With time your physical attributes of Perception should lower, but charisma is another matter. Your beauty will not be the same, but 'how' you speak and act could be even better than in childhood times. As for KNW, some people lose they 'mind' capabilities with time, some not, they think as good as they were young, adding their experience they could even have their KNW raised.
Maybe at the end of the live character should roll a die for KNW, PER, TECH, on 1 attribute lowers, on 6 rise. Just my idea for house rule.
In D20 Intelligence and Wisdom was increasing with time.

Good point on Per being a mix of charisma and awareness...

BUT what about tech and mech?

I could see the reaction skills of Mech being lowered. Vehicle Operations, etc. But really, most of the other skills in Mech and Tech revolve around know-how and/or fine motor skills. Maaaaybe the fine motor skills would be affected with age, but I know my grandmother can knit like nobody's business, so I wouldn't decrease it in my game.

i always had a beef with the +6D thing too. I wanted to do a scale that went something like this-
base attribute dice - pc attribute dice
10d - 16d+2
11d - 17d+1
12d - 18d
13d - 18d+2
14d - 19d+1
15d - 20d

if a species gets a bunch of dice for no reason, they should have conquered the galaxy by now...
