The Sense difficulty for life detection says very easy if the subject is Force sensitive and moderate if not. It is modified by relationship.
However later it says when approached by or approaching sentient creatures the Jedi should make a sense roll; each creature makes an opposed control or Perception roll to avoid detection. These are free actions. The Jedi detects each being that he ties or beats.
So which is it? The skill roll or the opposed rolls?
Also, in the example on page 146 of R&E, Ana is detecting three Gamorreans. Two of the Gamorreans she has never met and they are different species than her. Because this skill is modified by relationship shouldn't that mean a +30 to the difficulty? This is not mentioned in the example. |

Emphasis mine.
Note the sentient bit. IMO it's an opposed roll against anything that's sentient (GM's discretion) and a Very Easy or Moderate roll otherwise.
And yes, there are non-sentient Force Sensitive critters out there.

The skill roll. The opposed roll is used when the others are attempting to avoid detection (hiding).

Yes. It should be +30. _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.
