Just some guy.

My gaming goes in cycles. Usually related to the media that I'm consuming at the time. I go through a star wars cycle about every 2 months. During that time I can't get enough star wars RPG. RCR mostly, but I'm trying to get more people in my area to do SAGA and have a bunch of d6 books that I ordered from out-of-print sellers.
Also love to see star wars interpreted to other systems.

So. Yeah.

Instead of getting people to do Saga you should get them to fall in love with the SW D6 system. Help people kick that nasty D20 habit Very Happy

Hello good people

I’m new here and just want to say that I’m thrilled to learn that there still are people playing d6 Star Wars. I used to play a lot of star wars back in the day. My GM started with first edition, and then later converted to second edition revised and expanded. But for the last ten years I haven’t played in any star wars campaign. Now I find myself wanting to run a star wars campaign for my buddies. But what system to use? Saga is right out. I actually find the thought of running star wars with any derivate of the d20 system perverse. Levels, ablative hit points, feats and huge stat blocks are just wrong in so many ways. Perverse I say!

I’ve run a couple of hugely successful one-shots using HeroQuest, but last week I dug out my old d6 books and started to read them again. And do they rock? Yes they do! But not always in the way I remembered. I’ve been reading first edition and second edition at the same time, and strangely enough I’m discovering that I actually prefer the first edition. Back in the day I remember liking the changes in the second edition, but today I’m falling in love with first edition again. Simple, easy to handle, straight to the point and steeped in star wars mood. Second edition on the other hand feel unnecessary complex. Things like the expanded skill list, skill specialisations, more complex force rules and more complex starship combat feel unnecessary in a star wars game. On the other hand there are things in the second edition that are clear improvements (like the wild die). Having played both editions and a whole lot of other games, I feel that I can go back to the simpler first edition and take with me the rules from second edition that fix the problems *I* think need fixing, and then leave the rest. For me this seems like the best of both worlds.

Anyway, I’m really excited about this and just wanted to say hello.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.... there was a fellow who grew up with the love of Star Wars and found RPGs at the tender age of 6-7 yrs old. Since then he's done played and GMed just about everything ever written since AD&D 1st edition and owns every version of the Star Wars RPG. I do like the d6 version still and some fellow Star Wars gamers invited me here (in hopes that I'd run a game) so I thought I'd stop by and check it out.

For anyone who might know me or have heard of me before, I'm a frequent RPG staff member for Dragon*Con here in Atlanta, GA. I have run nearly every version of the Star Wars RPG at the con over the years and ran quite a few RCR games and will be doing some Saga this fall.

I also run games online via pbp sites and OpenRPG.

So I hope to enjoy getting to know ya'll and gaming with you.

Oh so this is where I introduce myself. Back around 1982 I was introduced to D&D and played for a while until I discovered Heavy Metal and girls. Fast foreward to 1992 and I was in the USN, we were always looking for something to do. Battletech and Star Trek the RPG kept us busy. A few years later I introduced Star Wars the RPG to my buds and we had some great adventures. I played on and off until about 2001 when my sourcebooks went into storage with the arrival of my daughter. Recently I pulled them out and found my old campaigns, or the odds and ends of what's left of them anyway. My wife and I wrote up characters and started playing, my daughter has since wanted to join in too. So the future of D6 actually looks pretty good, hopefully a whole new generation is going to learn about games you can play without a computer!

A couple nights ago I was scouring the internet looking for ideas and resources to make my game more funner when Google brought up a site called the Rancor pit, and lo and behold there are other people JUST LIKE ME who love Star Wars, love RPG's and love the D6. thank the Force I found you! I am not alone after all! I honestly thought I was the only person left in the Galaxy that hadn't sold their WEG sourcebooks to the local comic book store. We are totally a dying breed, playing games with pencils and paper- we have an awesome task, we must keep the D6 alive!
Come on everybody, lets go storm the castle gates at WotC and tell them we want our D6!!!!!!

Hello. I'm actually a member of this new generation that Alan spoke about. Star Wars D6 is a second RPG that I've ever played and the first that I GM.

Since I found out that there are two SW systems, D6 always felt more SW to me, so I decided to try it out. I was impressed that it is still popular enough to have it's own, very active forum and I'm glad that I am now a part of it.

Well hello there, Eris smile on you.

Seem a really nice forum you all have here. Mind if I join in?

I really like the look of this place. I'm especially encouraged by the apparent absence of canon nazis and nerd rage in general, both things I'm very wary (not to mention weary) of (I'm not very well wersed in canon outsode the movies, and not sorry about it at all).

I'm in the middle of my second SW D6 campaign right now, and the first one I'm running myself, and enjoing it immensely (not least because it's the first game I managed to get going in 6 years due to various factors known collectively as "life"). Great system, great players, great fun.

I don't know how active I'll manage to be, as nowadays, if I have some spare time, I'm usually too busy preparing for or playing RPG's to post about them on a forum ^_^ but I'll certainly try to drop by from time to time to participate in this glorious hivemind.

And that's enough prattling from me for now, I think. See you on the pages.

Longtime listener, first time caller.

I've been reading these forums for quite a long while, never got around to posting, mostly because no one needs to hear my nonsense!

Greeting and salutations to all.

We'd be reading it, which means we wouldn't hear it.... Laughing

Greets All!

Just realized I posted elsewhere and never got around to introducing myself...

Been a WEG SW fan for a long while and am still amazed at how much fan based support there is out there, and very thankful for it too!!

Though I do not have much time to post myself, I do enjoy the forums and seeing everyone else's input as it helps to expand the universe as I see it...

Anyway, that was short, and to the point! Smile
