going on a little hiatus as I'm entering summer break.
I will be working on the book during this time, though my time on the boards will be limited.
Thanks to all those who helped support this project. |

Hi all,
I've decided to publish some of the things that have come out of this project.
Here is the first. I hope you enjoy it. It is my first attempt at a source book so please be kind. It is pretty short but was the first part I finished.
Without further apology: Meritorious Commendations Sourcebook or Star Wars Medals and Awards

Working on something for the medals to add a little game text and reward characters more for receiving them. need some input and suggestions. thanks. Here's what I have so far.
Level of Medals
Upon receiving a medal the character can pick one bonus. The bonuses are not cumulative the character cannot pick the same bonus again. A higher level bonus supersedes the lesser. Ex. a level one bonus of 5% discount is not added to a level 2 bonus of 10%. The character now has a 10% discount.
Level 1
• +1 to bargain on items in an Alliance friendly store
• Access to Availability 1 weapons/equipment from an Alliance quartermaster.
• + 1 to command of Alliance squads.
• Ability to call in 1 favor from a lower ranked Alliance officer.
• Once a mission, an alliance friendly store may give an item at or under 20 credits for free. roll a die if even item is free.
Level 2
• +2 to bargain on items in an Alliance friendly store
• Access to Availability 2 weapons/equipment from an Alliance quartermaster.
• + 2 to command of Alliance squads.
• Ability to call in 2 favors from a lower ranked Alliance officer.
• Once a mission, an alliance friendly store may give an item at or under 30 credits for free. roll a die if even item is free.
Level 3
• +1D to bargain on items in an Alliance friendly store
• Access to Availability 3 or Fee weapons/equipment from an Alliance quartermaster.
• + 1D to command of Alliance squads.
• Ability to call in 2 favors from a equal ranked Alliance officer.
• Once a mission, an alliance friendly store may give an item at or under 40 credits for free. roll a die if even item is free.
Level 4
• +1D+1 to bargain on items in an Alliance friendly store
• Access to Availability 3 or restricted weapons/equipment from an Alliance quartermaster.
• + 1D+1 to command of Alliance squads.
• Ability to call in 2 favors from a higher ranked Alliance officer.
• Once a mission, an alliance friendly store may give an item at or under 50 credits for free. roll a die if even item is free.
Level 5
• +2D to bargain on items in an Alliance friendly store
• Access to Availability 4 or illegal weapons/equipment from an Alliance quartermaster.
• + 2D to command of Alliance squads.
• Ability to call in 3 favors from a higher ranked Alliance officer.
• Once a mission, an alliance friendly store may give an item at or under 100 credits for free. roll a die if even item is free.
Can you think of anymore rewards?

The discount is something that I've been pondering. I'm just wondering how practical it would be for shop owners to give discounts based on ranks. Depending on the era, just about anyone friendly to the alliance is going to be strapped for cash, wouldn't they? I'm just not sure that 20% every time they go into an alliance friendly store is a practical mechanic. _________________ __________________________________
Before we take any of this too seriously, just remember that in the middle episode a little rubber puppet moves a spaceship with his mind. |

I understand what your saying perhaps a reduction in the discount or a limit on how many times they can use it would make it more viable.
Post edited to reflect changes, Is that better or needs revision?
Thanks for the comment |

How about a bonus to Bargain rolls, instead? +1 per rank? +1D per rank?
It adds a more random factor rather than just a straight reduction in price. (Sometimes merchants take offense at you throwing your rank around to get special deals.) _________________ Han - "How're we doin'?"

I like Re-run's idea. Also, you shouldn't forget the possibility that an alliance friendly merchant may wave cost on some smaller things to show their support. Or even some larger things. |

Also added your idea Raven, could probably need some adjusting from what I wrote. |

Hi all been working hard on the alien name portion of the source book it has turned onto a behemoth of a project. I about 85% of the way complete on this portion but am approaching fatigue doing it all myself.
It is so far 60 pages of info on the various naming conventions of alien species and all the examples of different names and if they are traditionally female or male.
I got a head start with the great article by I think Mike Kelly that he did about 5 or so years ago. It covered about 20 species. I have greatly expanded this and mimicked the way he handled each species.
Here is an example so far:
Bimm
Two names, one of which they recieve at birth, normally followed by a second name choosen in honor of a favorite ancestor or epic hero from a cherished ballad or story, Heavy on: R's, M's & musical tones,
Male First Names: Crote, Ginder, Glah, Ha'lathin, Ritinki, Rayc, Rycar, Toki
Female First Names: Vasnish
Last Names: Kay, Ryjerd, Tollivar, Ubooki
What would greatly help me is if I can post sections I am working on and have people look up on Wookiepedia if they are Female or male Names.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Individuals_by_species has alot but not all of the names.
Here is the first, Thank you for helping me finish this.
Dug
First Names: Drodwa, Flugo, Gorlok, Langro, Dis, Luvagwa, Pugswis, Rewulga, Sloor, Pugwis, Sebolto, Zadalgo, Andurgo, Darnada, Dewanga Guanolta Hekula Hodrix Keluda Leaft Manoca Pixolga Rednax Seboca Tartuta
Duros
First Names: Felanil Hoolidan Jenssar Rana Leslomy Eejee Cei, Gar, Lensi Krudar Lai Areta Bringe, Phobos, Chachi, Kir Chidee, Croig, Dassid, Dustangle, Oso Geneer, Hav, Leslomy Hes Jiuk'chtna, Jivis, Kadlo, Ohwun Rana, Toryn, Jenssar |

So if you can't think of anything off hand you could just look at the list and throw a few of them together. "Oh, uh. The name of the ship is....-Draws a blank-" that always happens to me.[/color] |
Once I had this problem for a Gallofree Yards medium transport. I looked at my own foot and came up with Dusty Toenails. |
HAH! Good one, Hisham. |
