|
|
Am I wrong in thinking that the deck layout for the Imperial Survey Vessel (Loronar Far Reach IV PQR) Wanderer (The Isis Coordinates, page 21) is nearly identical to the Sienar Fleet Systems Curich-class Shuttle Resurgence (Classic Campaigns, page 46)? The deck plans can also be found on pages 145 and 156 of Gry's Starship Stats book for the Loronar and Sienar ships, respectively. Was WEG just really short on ideas for new ship designs at the time?
Incidentally, "Curich" appears to be misspelled in the Starship Stats book. |

Yeah, you are right. Both ships are basically the same exact design. Guess someone wanted to go home earlier at WEG...
And thanks for the catch on the spelling mistake. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

Sienar leased out the design for the long range shuttle to Loronar who modified the design specs to produce a scout vessel.
At least that's my story. |

No problem, Gry - thanks for the confirmation that I wasn't seeing double.
The design leasing story isn't too bad ... for a Kansan. Just kidding, MA-3P0. It's good that we have the Midwest represented here. How about the Royals this year! Sadly, I am a Chiefs fan.
Maybe an upset employee at Sienar jumped ship to work for Loronar, taking the design specs with them (or vice-versa). Heck, it could be a story thread for an exciting new adventure. Or it could, as Gry implied, be a case of someone at WEG wanting to beat traffic. |

Yeeeah. Watch what you say about Kansans... or somebody won't be getting a copy of the next conversion book. _________________ __________________________________

Wookieepedia conjectures that Sienar's first shuttle built of the type is named after the city Lola Curich on Lianna. Sounds good to me.
Or alternatively, it was named after someone named Curich who happened to have the same name as the city like, for example... Tetengo Curich, Raith Sienar's personal assistant who died during the shuttle's engine test. Or Beru Curich, the matriarch of the Curich family in Lianna City who provided security for the Santhe family for decades.
For example. _________________ The Enteague Sector | Cracken's Collection of Crackpots

Good conjecture, Hisham. I think the issue, though, is how these two corporations happened to have nearly identical ship designs. In reality, the WEG folks probably just took the deck plans from one, made a few changes, changed the stats, and had a "new" ship. It's a little harder to determine an "in-Galaxy" explanation for why a cargo shuttle would have a design almost exactly the same as an Imperial survey ship constructed by a different corporation. MA-3P0, despite being from Kansas, may have come up with something.
MA-3P0, feel free to respond with any Nebraska-flavored jab of your choosing. There are many to choose from. |

A friend's company is undergoing a court case for this exact thing right now.
Unfortunately he doesn't work for a starship manufacturer's. _________________ The Enteague Sector | Cracken's Collection of Crackpots

GO Royals. They'll probably cool off- but its fun right now.
As for the Chiefs...... I'm guessing another rebuilding year. _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

I think you're right - someday the Chiefs have to be good again. Right? I hope so.
Yes, at least the Royals are doing well. I may try to see a game sometime - hopefully while they're still on a winning streak! |

Funny how I can make the Chiefs win the superbowl on Madden NFL.
I haven't been to a baseball game since last year, and I'd like to see the K since they've redone it.
/thread derailment
As for the design of the shuttle: it could be several possibilities:
1. Stolen design
2. shared design (as in someone bought the design)
3. Ripoff design (someone said "hey, lets make one of those")
4. a coincendence, as there are many numerous ship manufacturers.[/b] _________________ Blasted rules. Why can't they just be perfect? |

corporations are weird like that. maybe it is kinda like how gmc and chevy build the same truck and call it different. auto manufacturers do that all the time. |
