I'm sure the Rancor Pit here got its name long before, but I thought it was interesting when I ran across this little tidbit.
In the Black Sands of Socorro sourcebook, there's a section in the back about Swoopchasing.
One of the obstacles where the rider must jump over, duck under and then over again is aptly called: "The Rancor Pit"
