I'm interested Playing in a swashbuckling type Star Wars Privateer PBP Campain, perhaps with some elements of Galaxy Guide 8: Scouts thrown in (pirates really need good hideouts) based around the crew of a ship kinda like Firefly/Serenity (but with more guns... LOL... ).... I'm not such a good GM yet and would prefer to play rather then run one..... Era wise I'm requesting a New Republic Game.... Lots of oportunities in this era, and I know it the best of 'em......
Any Prospective GMs (and Players!) want to take a stab at this? 8) _________________ Not the droid you're looking for.......

Hello There!
Thanks for welcoming me to this thread.
Are you looking for era-specific source material, and/or adventure guidelines?
Is there a specific New Republic timeframe in mind, or are you generally willing to base your campaign any time after Endor? |

Excellent you are interested! Hello and you are certainly welcome. Well any time from 1 year to 15 years after Endor is good...... Preferably around the time of Warlord Zinsj and Grand Admiral Thrawn to a bit after the Dark Empire series. _________________ Not the droid you're looking for....... |

There are a number of permutations with a Pirates game in mind. Who do they work for and who do they attack:
* Work for the Republic, attack the Imperial Remnants
* Work for the Remnants, attack the Republic
* Independant, attack either or both of the above
* Independant, attack civillian vessels ('healthy' and/or damaged)
* Independant, attack moons, space ports and/or planets
* Allied to larger criminal organisation, attack any of the above
* Originates from a piratical culture - believes it is moral and clever
* Attacks other pirates!
The best opportunities for space pirates is in a period of traumatic political transition, when neither faction quite holds all the cards and the security and ownership of the space lanes is questionable. I'd reckon the period just after Dark Empire would be ripe with pirate activity. The Clone Emperor's 'secret' army has shocked the New Republic and very quickly turned the tide of the war against them. In that chaos, the scavs and pirates can wreak absolute havoc. |

I'll have to see how well I get on with the new SW campaign I'm running for my local rpg group, then I might consider running some pBps here. I've two years experience of running other genres.
I typically edit the responses together periodically so we all know exactly where we are in the game, then ultimately create a novella at the game's conclusion, making the story tight and pacey, removing the waffle and gobbledigook we sometimes spout in the heat of battle |

I've bolded and Underlined the most interesing ones you suggested, perhaps a combination of these three? _________________ Not the droid you're looking for.......

OOOhh Pirates. that could be fun.
* Independant, attack civillian vessels ('healthy' and/or damaged)
but not kill. as an old Imperial unit that believed they were doing good. One of the ones left out of the loop on emperor's plans, the base could be an old IMP no longer flight capable. _________________ Kora Mood music: Wierd Al- The Saga Begins..

This could be interesting too... A recently discovered culture the Imps/New Republic annoyed somehow? _________________ Not the droid you're looking for....... |

Normally I would love to play, as I never get to play as a player. However my schedule is pretty tight in real life these days. I'm planning on putting together a campaign that I'm going to run for my wife and a few other players, so I don't want to commit to playing in, nor running for anyone else.
Maybe some other time I would consider running a game online for others here. _________________ Nihilism makes me smile. |
