That's cool. The historian in this case would be Jocasta Nu, the Jedi Librarian. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

She was killed by Anakin in the Temple, so she might not be the best person to have a surviving memoir. She probably wouldn't have put the pieces together of his fall until after it was a bit too late. |

I agree with chesire. I've thought about this and I think Obi-Wan would be a good candidate for the historian of the RotS GG. He's one of the few who knows the most about everything that went on with the Sith plots, Padme and Anakin's relationship, etc. Obi-Wan and Yoda anyway. But I ruled out Yoda because it would suck to do the whole thing in his backwards speech!
Palpatine's Empire was always represented as supressing any knowledge about the Jedi, etc. Palpatine rewrote history. In ANH, Old Obi-Wan is nostalgic for the Old Republic, before the dark times, before the Empire. I think with all of his regrets, he would have spent a lot of time on Tatooine looking back at the events that lead to the Fall of the Republic, and would want to preserve his knowledge for future generations.
Despite the fact that the others historians were minor characters, I think Obi-Wan is pretty much the perfect candidate for this GG. _________________ *

Humm... I don't know. I don't really see OB1 writing historic essays. Plus, his own point of view would be way too personal and biased. I'd rather go with our original idea of a mix between Jocasta Nu's previous records (up to her killing) complemented by Voren Na'al's researches, based on newly uncovered databased that resurfaced with the reconstruction of Coruscant after the Mutiny.
Sure, there is bound the information that NO-ONE could know, but well, call it artistic license (and Voren could have uncovered some very interesting security camera footage). _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

How about having Voren Na'al doing the whole thing while referencing Jocasta Nu? Sort of an 'According to Jocasta Nu...' thing? _________________ Check out some of my games at DriveThruRPG!

Yeah, something like that. But I wouldn't like to see this whole thing very apparent in the actual entries, it's just really some fluff to justify the book. It should only really feature on the in-between stories and such. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

You know, I think I have a possible solution, and it's courtesy of the recent The Force Unleashed Sourcebook.
Towards the end of the Clone Wars, Jocasta Nu had a Padawan - a human named Jin-Lo Rayce who was interested in the fascinated with the intricacies of Jedi history. When Order 66 occurred, he went to archives to hide from Vader and the clones. But Jocasta Nu found him, and before leaving to face Vader and stop him from accessing the temple beacon, she gave Jin-Lo a datapad filled with blueprints the Coruscant underbelly. She told him to use them to flee the Jedi Temple through those passages. Jin-Lo went on to establish the Agent of Ossus Force tradition.
Now all of that that came from the sourcebook. Here's what I'm thinking - the datapad also contained Jocasta Nu's perspective of most of the events of ROTS. Obviously, we know why I said "most". Jin-Lo finds this info, and passes it on amongst the Agents of Ossus. Eventually, this info finds it's way into the hands of Luke's Order. But that doesn't happen until after the Swarm War. By then, Luke and Leia would have unlocked R2's memories and learned the identity of their mother and what happened on Mustafar.
Armed with all this information, Luke asks Tionne to create a report about it, just as Jocasta Nu made a report that became your AOTC sourcebook. Since most of the information is from Jocasta Nu's perspective, most of the sourcebook will be from her perspective. However, there will be some addenda from Jin-Lo Rayce's, Luke's, and Tionne's perspective. Just like some entries in the Essential Guide to the Force had addenda provided by Tionne. |

Wow, I think you really have something there, Forceally. This could really work. Thanks. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

That sounds interesting. Jin-Lo Rayce is little known enough to make it plausible, though it is an in-universe explanation. I think I wouldn't mind taking a perspective of someone like that. He'd be close enough to the event, but have the training of a researcher and chronicler. |

Are you guys planning on incorporating elements from the novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, the comics The Hidden Threat, Into the Unknown, Purge, and Dark Times, and the game The Force Unlimited into the sourcebook? The Hidden Threat occurs simultaneously with the movie and the Battle of Kashyyyk in particular, as does the first part of the novel. Into the Unknown occurs immediately after Order 66, and the story of one of the Jedi introduced in that comic story - Dass Jennir, continues in Dark Times. Bultar Swan was in the AOTC sourcebook, but even though she didn't appear in ROTS, she did in Purge. And as for Shaak Ti, her fate was obscure until the game was announced. |

Thanks for the offer. Right now what we are needing is the character write-ups. I posted a list of the characters in the last page or so, and Cheshire has been tackling this. If you could give him a hand, it would be greatly appreciated.
Or, if there's anything different you would like to do, let's see... _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

If you want a selection of suggestions as to where to start, try one of these folks:
Breha Antilles Organa
Captain Jeremoch Colton
