The cleric I mentioned is definitely in the sidekick realm in my current game, but in the SW game, my character was more active, being that the players were all basically people he hired/contracted out to for the smuggling business (gun running between the Alliance and the Corporate Sector). My players were: a face/arms dealer, a thief/slicer, and a pilot, and none of them were particularly good at combat, so the character I ran filled in the hole and acted as the meat shield when circumstances required it, particularly for the slicer, covering their backs, helping them escape from bad situations, that kind of thing. They could enjoy the plot elements I came up with, and while the characters themselves did fight, they didn't have to beef up their combat skills too much, taking away from what they viewed as their more primary interests, so my character could cover their asses when deals went bad, or while "acquiring" new product to transport. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |
