Personally, I like tramp freighters most. They've got so much potential - actually you can do almost everything with them. Here a little engine boost, there a nice turbolaser, etc.
Among all those freighters I've got two favourites.
First is the YT-1930. It's a bit larger than the YT-1300. In addition it's got shields and a faster sublight drive. Fast enough to keep a Star Destroyer at a distance.
Second is the Mon Calamari Deepwater-class freighter. Backup shields and subaquatic capabilities. Simply fantastic!
Cheers

I love freighters. I bought the HT-2200 model it is my fav. cost me 220,000 creds and worth every penny. Not to mention the 10 million credits i have placed in heavly modifing it. So for me a Star destory is like a bug on my shoe. Now a SSd those are problems very very big ones.
My fav star fighter is the I wing. It is better then the B wing and easier to maintian and cost less.
My fav capitail is the CC heavly modded of course. _________________ I am insane and you are my insanity |

Mon Cal DeepWater-class light freighter. Here's some stats to go along with the pic. Stock ships also has a layout on page 62, and the stats for the modified DeepWater-class freighter the lost Reef on page 64. If I had my scanner up, I'd try scanning it for you. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

X-wing. The ship that destroyed the Death Star. 'Nuff said. _________________ There is no emotion; there is peace.

The only character I've got has a modifed YT-1300. My favorite ship so far. Its not any faster or any more manueverable than a stock YT-1300 but she sure packs ALOT of firepower.
In the past I've always used Starfighters. Primarily the X-Wing. Although since I GM and usually don't ever play, its rare that I get the opportunity to use them anyway. |

I think they give you the most flexibility, with room to carry cargo and passengers, while still being small enough to not require a large crew (if any at all). |
I love commanding capital ships for the broadside style spacebattle stuff, as well as how completely you can modify them. "Twenty banks of turbolasers? Who needs that kind of firepower! Get us some more tractor beams!"
I also truly love starfighters, though they rarely have a long enough range or enough room to modify things.
Tramp freighters are romantic for the impression of total freedom they bring, and they're a good compromise between the two. I'd still rather be in a starfighter when caught in a combat zone, though. _________________ Ooo, a droid! Can I fix it?

The Incom A-24 Sleuth. A fast little scout ship that can carry 2 metric tons of cargo but small enough to be a fighter. It looks cool as heck too... |
