I suddenly felt guilty about completely derailing the "New Fanbook Idea" thread in Tools with starships stats discussion, so I decided to create this new thread devoted to that specific purpose: discuss general starships stats, conversions, creations, and any future publications.

So, let me start. With some initial rumblings about doing yet another edition of the Starships Stats book, I started looking at and ironing my stats collection, and some stats stood out. I've been gathering starships stats for so long that there are many which I don't even remember where I found, and though with time I started taking them for granted, upon closer examination they appear to be complete fanon.

I don't really wan't to include fanon in my stats books. Sure, homemade stats are welcome, but the ships themselves have to be official (whether from the movies, rpg, books, games, etc).

After combing my entire list of stats, I've compiled the ones for which I simply couldn't find an official reference, and I'm seriously considering axing all of those in a future edition of the book. Some of them are quite cool, but nowadays it seems to me we have PLENTY official ships, so there's no need to include fan creations.

Here's the list of presumably fanon ships. If anybody has anything to say in defense of any of them, please, speak up!

Ok throw back to the fanbook topic about speed, you have TIE Defenders listed having a space of 17, fastest ship in the statbook if I'm not mistaken. I allways thought the A-wing's speed was under rated. I also seem to remember a version of the A-wing with concussion missiles. "The Essential guide to Vehicles and Vessels" printed in 1996 has The A-wing with missiles. I have a copy of the book just wondering if any one else has flipped threw it and noticed that.

I have the YT-4000 stats in my collection as well. with a bit of a write up. I don't recall ever seeing them anywhere but the internet. I agree that only official ships should be used. With all the Comic books and novels and games out now there are plenty of ships and stats to pull from. Thats my two cents for now. Keep up the great work Gry. All your books make it into my cannon list for games.

I just picked up the Star Wars Complete Cross Section Book. And, yes, the A-Wing got itself some sting.

I was watching Return the other night, and you see the A-Wings use 'em against a Shield Dome, blowing it up real good!

Just for the record I readjusted the TIE Defender's speed to Space 16.

I wouldn't go changing the A-Wing's official stats, though I do remember a variation with missiles. Maybe we couls write stats for an alternate model....

I allways let my players pick either the missiles or the jammer but not both. One is recon and one is an interceptor. Thats my thoughts anyways perhaps give the missile carrying one a little speed boost to put on par with the older ships that out fly it? How does space 14 sound?

Well, this is a conversion question. I mostly know (and have stuff for) 2ndEdRev, but just got a GG6: Tramp Steamers, a ridiculously happy moment for me. Everything is pretty kosher, but I have no idea what to do with Ion Drives. Total fool question - in 1st Ed, did one roll for space movement? And what is the conversion? (I'm thinking, from what I'm seeing, something like a 1st Ed. 2D Ion Drive = a 2ndR&E 4 Space rating?)

Don't mean to alter the train of thought here, but this has been bugging me... Thanks! Gry - you're awesome!

In the 2nd Edition book there's a 1st -> 2nd ed. conversion chart at the end of the book right before the Templates. I don't think it was included in R&E though.

Is it all right to ask about this specific aspect? I'm guessing that actually seeing the chart's a problem, legally (though, as it's a conversion, I'm not entirely sure why).

Was my stab at it accurate?
