Anyone else other than me think the wookie bowcaster is severly underpowered, for such a tough weapon to use and to only have 4D damage I certainly wouldn't take one as a player. I am thinking that this thing should have at least 5D maybe even 6D with the STR required to reload this weapon. Any thoughts? |

Yeah, this issue has been brought up before a couple of times. And yeah, your opinion is right on the money, higher damage (at least 5D) and STR check to reload and maybe fire it repeatedly. _________________ "He's Gry Sarth, of course he has the stats for them." |

I think the most common explanation given is that it's desinged to hurt things that aren't wookies so a stay shot won't injure someone. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Of course it is a weapon, and as per the R&E rules you could just give your player a modified one. Since it is primarily a hunting weapon it need not have damage to punch through heavy armor.
Of course I agree completely, but am playing Devil's advocate here.
So you could either give your player a "supped up version" or you could raise the minimum, best thing about tabletop games is that the rules are just guidelines.

Considering how Chewbacca downed a Speeder Bike & trooper in ROTJ, perhaps it could be considered Speeder Scale due to power (which would also explain the high Strength required to employ it). |

That is a great way to showcase how nasty they are. Simple but yet effective. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

It also makes the limited ammo a balancing factor! |

Each Wookie builds his own bowcaster as right of passage to adult hood. I can't recall which book I read that in but I do recall it. The 5D is a guild line more then a rule of thumb. |

Thats not a bad idea. Features could be extra damage, further range, etc.

I work it out to about 1D, wether damage, range, firecontrol, more ammo, what ever they like aslong as it's not to bad. If they want something more powerful or crazy it would require some skill rolls and perhaps some credits. |

Unless it's some kind of artillery bowcaster, I don't see fire control being a possibility, it's a personal weapon, and a relatively primitive one at that. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |
