I'm sure that most of you know that Gary Gygax, the co-creator of Dungeons & Dragons and thereby RPG's in general, passed away today. I grew up playing plenty of AD&D (albeit 2nd edition; post Gary's departure from TSR) and recently got back into the hobby about two years ago through Castles & Crusades, only to discover that Gary was writing for C&C as well as creating other material for Troll Lord Games (C&C's publisher). He was always on the C&C forums and frequently took time to answer questions as well as chat with those who frequented the threads there. I know that he really didn't have anything to do with the Star Wars RPG, but I doubt that the game would've been created if not for his work in creating and promoting the medium. Here's to you Gary. May the Force be with you! _________________ "He is a very shallow critic who cannot see an eternal rebel in the heart of a conservative."-G.K. Chesterton |

I had the honor to have a nice long Chat with Mr. Gygax at Gencon Indy last year. I'm going to miss seeing him dressed as a Wizard and rolling the opening dice. |

Sad news to a guy who helped start a phenomenon, I read today that he was still running games at his house as recent as January, talk about a class act who didn't forget his roots |

He was always very friendly and posted frequently at both the Troll Lord Games' forums as well as Dragonfoot. Just reading about some of the games that he hosted made you want to roll up a character and embark upon a journey within the dark depths of a dungeon. _________________ "He is a very shallow critic who cannot see an eternal rebel in the heart of a conservative."-G.K. Yes he was. It's a shame that he never wrote a Star Wars adventure. _________________ "He is a very shallow critic who cannot see an eternal rebel in the heart of a conservative."-G.K. Chesterton |

A co-worker and I gave a moment of silence.
But look at this way, he lived a fairly long life filled with the one thing he loved most and made a fortune with it. How envious a life! How triumphant a life too.
Don't think of the big GG as passed away...just gone off to roll another character to play another campaign with the big DM in the sky... _________________ "We attack under cover of daylight.
