Aloha folks of the forum,

For some time I have been thinking of running a D6 game for my group of players, in which the entire game (or most of it) was based locally on Tatooine. The players would either be natives, or for whatever reason be stranded (stuck, visiting, ect) the lovely dune planet.

I have out most of my major NPC's (and minor) characters written up, as well as a few major locations that the players may come into contact with or visit, but am mostly planning on winging the game, by having it player driven as opposed to it being storyteller authority type games (voice of authoriy giving missions).

I was wondering, if any of you wise and creative members of the forum, had any ideas as to senarios that would be good starting adventures to get the game up and running, or hust in general senarios to save in store for a slow moment that you would be willing to share with me. Or if you just ahd any cool ideas regarding a tatooine based campaign.

I have sort of hit a brick wall (creativity block) regarding these ideas, and was hoping for some ideas to give it a little kickstart.

We always hung out in the Mos Eisley cantina during our "down time". There's always something going on there. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." Very Happy

Some ideas:
1) your players get into a scuffle with a local swoop gang
2) some local farmers are complaining that someone (or something) has been damaging their equipment and want the players to check it out
3) your players get into a scuffle with Stormtroopers who mistaken them for a local criminal
4) the local customs authority impounds the players' ship for some reason (illegal weapons, contraband cargo, whatever)

How about this:

If the PCs are locals, their families in their close-knit community are being harrassed by Tusken Raiders nightly, and after someone close to the PC is killed (roleplayed out) they are forced to go out and hunt the Raiders before they can attack again. In the end they are in the position to discover that the ones that attacked them weren't Tusken Raiders, other factions who wanted the PCs out of the way for something. For example:

Hutt kadijic - wants to take over their land to build a lucrative casino, so the PCs (who are the fighters of the community, perhaps) are out of the way. If the PCs roleplay well, they can even get the real Tuskens to join their cause when the tructh is known. It would be even more interesting if the PCs had already wounded some Tuskens beforehand.

Bounty hunters - wants to collect a bounty on one of the PCs' close family, perhaps someone's father, who doublecrossed a Moff in another sector 10 years ago.

Real Tuskens, but another tribe... - they ones that attacked the PCs' community needs the PCs to destroy a rival tribe for them by leaving clues to their enemies' whereabouts. This is probably because the second tribe is much more powerful than the first tribe. Perhaps, to add to the adventure, the PCs are approached by a profiteering weapons dealer from offworld who is also in league with the first tribe, providing more powerful weapons for the PCs so they can easily finish off the second tribe.

If you're planning on basing a game on Tatooine, I would most vehemently suggest that you do your best to grab a hold of WEG's "Galaxy Guide 7: Mos Eisley". This is one of the best books there are, in my opinion. and it will be exceptionally usefull if you're running a characer based plot.
What's great about this book is that it has so much info on all the establishments and people of Mos Eisley, that you can just set your players loose on the city and see what happens, you'll have all the info you need.
Plus there's a great map of the city.

ps. the scanned pdf of this book is floating around he net, got it on e-mule.

Thanks for the ideas all.

I should prolly include that I am planning on having it set sometime before episode four, or near enough.

I like the idea with the tusken diversion, and the scuffle with stormtroopers looking for someon else. I was thinking about having it set specifically in a city smaller than Mos Eisly, though not so small as to be an isolated villa. I am thinking of something with the flavor of an old west town, a little creepy, with lots of under the table kind of deals, and a whole bunch of average folks trying to make a living underneath the pressure of their overlords.

I like the flavor of a smlalr town becuase you can have a limited cast that is more detailed in some ways than the averge NPC, and you dont have to have many "filler" characters. IN a smaller town setting every character becomes connected to the players, and makes for great roleplaying situations in crisis' time.
