Wasn't in starwars d6, was in D20 mecha... brand new campaign, level 1 characters.
Our mission was to assault a building in a city. We start off in our mechs, and begin the combat.
One player refuses to pilot a mech, and insists on having a motorcycle and being a wheelman. GM gives in and tells him he's supposed to pick up a briefcase in the middle of a city.
As we're fighting, the wheelman's IRL brother decides he's going to park his mech, open his cockpit and use his grenade launcher to attack the enemy mechs(no way to hurt them, hit them). He takes a hit to his cockpit and vapes.
Then the wheelman comes zooming straight through combat at 160mph, decides he wants to do a powerslide, grab the briefcase, and run. He rolls a natural 20 for the slide, an 18 for the pickup and a natural 20 for the recovery, and continued on at 160mph straight out of the city & campaign: GM put an explosive in the case _________________ "well it's either hoth or peanut butter" -me |

PC droid who for some reason recorded video of himself interrogating prisoners. The interrogation got out of hand and he ended up killing them. Then for some reason he thought it would be a good idea to playback the footage to the authorities as proof of his successful hunt. Needless to say that the authorities weren't overly impressed with his execution of defenceless prisoners.
To make matters worse he resisted arrest, rolled a wild die one to resist damage and got immobilized by an archaic slugthrower. The crowning moment was when one of the other PCs had the bright idea of using his thermal detonator and ultimately vapourized the whole group (immobilized droid included). |

Droids don't always earn DSPs it's a question of free will.
If the droid has no choice in the matter (IE commanded by it's master and isn't able to break programming) then it shouldn't get any DSPs. In this example however it seems the droid had a choice and chose to do the evil thing anyway but the point is largely moot when it gets vaporized. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

What happens when a droid accumulates too many DSPs?
Does their programming become corrupt? |

Or perhaps it's corrupt programming that leads to DSPs _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

Given that it can kill a sentient, it's programming's already corrupted _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

If a blaster pistol can't earn a DSP for shooting someone, a droid can't earn one, either. It's a machine, a tool. It's certainly a versatile and useful tool, but still a tool. The Force doesn't flow through them, so there would be no mechanism for them to earn a DSP. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

But how do you explain some WEG material that comes out with droids that have DSPs? _________________ The Vong have Arrived

My opinion (and it's just that, an opinion) is that a standard droid has no free will and can earn neither force points or dark side points but if a droid has been active for long enough to break prgramming (like Kryton in Red Dwarf) and starts to exibit signs of free will then it can acrue force points and dark side points. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.

A failure on the part of whoever wrote those supplements to think logically about what canon says about the nature of droids and the Force. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |
