(Not sure if I posted this in the place or not and if this has been done or not, so please forgive me) Remember that time so very long ago, when you bought a brand new Star Wars D6 book? Remember the joy you felt reading it? Well I bought D6 Space recently to try to recapture the fealing. I was in for a very rude shock when I expect the system to be similar (if not the same) to Star Wars D6. I read it over and over again, to me it was a diffrent system entirely. Once I figured it out, I looked over it again, and while I still much prefer the old system, the new actually had much to offer. The advantage/disadvange system was actually useful and (to me) not that hard to learn, They had tips for creating new alien species (As well as having things in place to prevent certain aliens from overpowering others), as well as some other odds and ends. But as always the good must come with the bad, The "force power" section was positivly dreadful (Again, in my opinion), having to create new powers just for diffrent ranges and effects? The book also lacked and sort of direction as for campain wise (Though to me thats both a plus and a minus), and I'm still uncertain about the Funds rules.
Overall its a good system, just experianced Star Wars D6 players may need to learn the system all over again, personally I would recommend buying this, all its rules can help put a new spin on your D6 game.
As for me? I'm going to keep buying all of WEG's books, no matter how bad they are, call it stupid, I just call it hopefull thinking.

You'll find mixed opinion on this board. I'm in the camp that isn't too thrilled. I bought the book because I thought it would have interesting tidbits or rule clarifications that I might add to my game. I saw one thing that I found helpful (maybe two). That was pretty much it. It wasn't worth the $19 I snagged it for to get that one rule.

I feel like they took a really solid system and made arbitrary tweaks.

I'm glad you like the ad/disad.

Good luck with the book!

I found Space and Fantasy on eBay really cheap together, so I picked them up. I'm bidding on Adventure now. I haven't had the time to read through them yet (what with new Delta Green stuff and CthulhuTech coming out) but I have skimmed them, and basically liked what I saw. I'll still use my Star Wars books for Star Wars, but I can certainly see using the new D6 rules with some other games, particularly those where I like the setting, but don't like the rules.

Ironically I get a lot better use of of the supplement D6 Space ships. I use it quite often for building my ships and I find that with a bit of work (and a good knowledge of math, trust me, if you by this supplement get a good calculator) it works quite well in Star Wars D6. By the way Masque, I was thinking of buying D6 Fantasy, what did you think of it?

Well, as I said, I haven't sat down and read the whole book yet, but what I saw in skimming through it, I liked.

I got the fantasy rulebook. Honestly, I like it more than I do the Space book. I think I would have appreciated it a bit more if the magic system was a bit more like the Force Powers rules, but that can easily be changed. (From what I understand they are going to make the magic system they are currently working on more like the Force Powers.)

The distribution of skills through the attributes isn't quite as intuitive as it is in SW. They took perception and broke it into two different attributes for charisma and acumen. I'm currently playing a D6 Fantasy game. It's hard to comment on how well the rules work seeing how the GM is more of a free-form player than anything.

But all in all, I think it's a decent book. I'm glad that I picked it up. The things I don't like, I can fairly easily change.

I have the special edition d6 collection. And to be honest, I have not cracked them since I first read them. Everything was so, I dunno, different from what I like, nay, love about d6 SW. There are a few good things in there like Advantages/Disadvatages that I have started using to some extent though modified to fit my tastes. But all in all, I felt rather...meh....about it.

I do agree with Cheshire that Fantasy D6 was a better read than Space D6.
