I found this cool name generator today. It says it uses names from the US Census. If you choose an obscurity factor of 99, the names can be good for Star Wars characters. The first time I tried it, it came back with "Ezequiel Blackmar". 8) _________________ "Mind what you have learned. Save you it can." --Yoda

I just tried to use the generator, and it came up with a numbered list with no names on it.
Am I doing something wrong? _________________ "Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata"

My group has started using the local Phone Book... A rather inexpensive Source Book. |

Well, there is, of course, the old standby:
http://www.insectdissection.com/save-curtis/swname/
By that generator, Max would now be known as:
<drum roll please>
Maxbe Locor
Sanheadhunter of Amoxicilin
Hmm, a little too goofy, but good for random stuff if you just type in random words rather than the queried information _________________ "Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata"

I wish the names site I found several years ago was still working, it probably would have been great. Medival European names, Japanesse, and Ancient Egyptian. Somewhere I still have the print out for Japanesse names, but I never printed the others. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Hmmm, I just got Maxbi Fett. Not sure if ANY character needs the surname "Fett."
The census one gave me "Jacinto Igbinosun." Interesting...
The Star Wars Galaxies site gave me "Mareema Thralan." I'll assume that's female.
Has anyone tried their local University Yearbook in the Engineering Department? Bound to be some nice Nigerian/Hindi/Pakistani/Malaysian combos in there... _________________ "Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata"

One of the names I got from the census-based name generator was Max Sallis. I LIKE! |

All of these name generators are pretty good, I personally use NameMage.
Now for the wildly off topic bit, but does anyone think it's about time we had a separate "links" thread?
I was thinking along the lines of the Official PDF Thread where the first posting contains all the links. Mechanically, perhaps someone proposes a link, and then somebody else seconds it and it gets included.
They could be separated under various headings such as miniatures, scenery, name generators, game stats, etc.
Not everyone is going to know about DLOS or SWAG. For instance who knows Base Contact?
I would have started it myself, only this is my 3rd post I don't want to appear too pushy! |
