Let's try to design a module for everyone.
When you have a neat idea, add it in!
Idea #1:
You are Rebel operatives posted along the Expanse. A noble sympathetic to the Alliance has been "detained and is in transit to be escorted to Coruscant for 're-education'." You must assemble a rescue team and strike where the chain is weakest.
snag: She is hover-chair bound
snag#2: She spurned the affections of the very Imperial Governor who finally arrested her.
snag#3: One of the characters has met her before and finds her an insufferable snob.
Okay, <TAG> you're it!
Who'll take up the pen ethereal to continue this game session?!? _________________ "Let your anger be like a monkey in a pinata"

They are moving her via a well-travelled and patrolled Hyperspace Route.
Imperial Snag: Rebel Agents have found that "Checkpoint Charley", an Imperial Navy Garrison/Customs Station has just put in a *MASSIVE* request for Tie Fighter Engine Parts, which are on Back-Order in the sector. It's Starfighter Force is less than half what it should be. In addition, a Pirate Attack on a Agricultural Planet has diverted all Capital Ships, and the only defences the Station has are it's own cannons, and a handful of Customs Light Cruisers (Which is usually more than enough for the occasional Smuggler).
Rebel Snag: They're moving the Noble on an Imperial Star Galleon, the very definition of "Horror Show" amongst Rebel Marines and Pirate Boarders. And, to make matters worse, there's not one, but two of them, and the Rebel Alliance doesn't know which one she's on! However, their escorts are very light (A Corellian Corvette or a Nebulon-B Frigate at most).
General Snag: There's a major Freighter Convention going on along the route, and space around here has gotten very crowded and confused with Freighters of all makes and models *BEFORE* the fighting starts. After a few Laser Cannons go off, you got alot of panicing civies! This annoys both the Imperials (This is a Major Spacelane. Not something an Imperial Commander would shoot up without just cause. And a few Rebels are *NOT* just cause for destabilizing the economy of this route.), and the Rebels (Who must keep up the "Moral Superiority" statements.). |

If the players fail to recover the noble at Checkpoint Cresh (Charlie just doesn't work for me), they must attempt a rescue when she's unloaded at Coruscant while she's being moved from the military base to the prison. She will be under heavy guard if they failed at the Checkpoint; a light guard if the players didn't try there.
Obstacle#1: The players are all way too wanted to pass a Coruscant Spaceport ID check and scanning. They'll need to devise a clever way to get themselves and their equipment in. The normal "backwater world" methods won't work on heavily patrolled and rigidly enforced Coruscant.
Obstacle#2: If successful, the players will be hounded IN FORCE. The only possible escape is into the underworld - and the Empire will comb that in force as well. The players will need help which comes from an unexpected quarter... _________________ Know Jesus, Know Peace.

Ok, how's this. Sorry if I'm stepping on your toes Volar, but your second obstacle inspired this thought and I just couldn't help myself.
The unexpected help is a high ranking officer in the Imperial Navy, perhaps an Admiral. He's also fairly well known, which makes his helping the Rebels all that much more surprising. Yet he claims he's either defected to the Rebellion and is working as a spy within the Empire or that he's been looking for a chance to defect and this is his best chance to do so.
Snag 1: He is indeed a spy, for the Empire. He's actually an agent for Imeperial intelligence and has concocted his Naval persona to offer up a public face the Rebellion could see, and perhaps allow him to get closer to Rebel agents with the claim that he's looking to defect and join the Rebellion. He's actually planning to lure the Rebels into a trap from which they can't escape.
Snag 2: He's telling the truth about already having joined the Rebellion and is a Rebel spy within the Empire. The problem is that it's suspected he's switched sides and is being watched. His help could result in his being proven a spy and a traitor and bring even more forces down on the Rebels, ensuring they probably won't escape.
Snag 3: He's telling the truth about wanting to defect and join the Rebellion. Only he doesn't realize Imperial Intelligence knows of his plans and have been keeping a tight watch on him so as to actually catch him in the act of joining the Rebels. Almost as soon as he makes contact with the Rebels, they'll find themselves being attacked by Intelligence oppratives. _________________ FLUFFY for President!!!!

Then they could send in some Calamari cruisers and take them out....Damage them and then board them both. |

Possible Twist1: This noble woman was truely in love with the Imperial Governor but she was told to spurn his affections because her family makes quite a profit from arms trade with the rebels. The Governor is even sympathetic to the rebel cause and will turn for the woman he loves.
Possible Twist2: A rival noble house was the one that tipped the imperials off to the noblewoman's rebel connections. They did this to muscle in on the arms trade to the rebels. They are sending in their own 'specialists' to make sure she doesn't reach Coruscant alive. So the Imperials don't find out about their dealings with the rebels. The assassins are disguised as imperial officers.
Rebel Snag: Having to reunite Romeo and Juliette, all the while dodging assassins and imperials. Then trying to convince the Governor to join the rebels. _________________ Biggest Hat Ever! |
