One film I converted directly into a Star Wars adventure was Kelly's Heroes.

Anyone seen that film with Clint Eastwood and Donald Sutherland? In this film, a group of American GIs during WWII stumble upon some classified documents during a battle that give the location to a vault of gold. The protagonists decide to find the German gold on their own and sort of form a privateering expedition behind enemy lines.

I turned this into a SW adventure in which Rebel soldiers find out about a stockpile of gold in Imperial territory. That's right, just plain gold! I felt that with all the technobable and all the ubiquitous spice, it would be refreshing for the plot to revolve around something as commonly known and understood as gold.

I also used an episode of Firefly, as they translate well to smuggler adventures.

What other movies are good or have been good inspirations?

World War II movies work really well. The Guns of Navarrone is a good one too.

I borrow a lot from old Super NES RPG's

There are a ton of them out there, and some are just plain ol' fun.

The Dirty Dozen or The Eagle has Landed could be made into great adventures. For gritty bounty-hunter campaigns, take a look at the old Sergio Leone westerns...

Kelly's Heroes is an awesome flick (I own the DVD). Saving Private Ryan, the Way of the Gun, Children of Men, Blood Diamond, The Italian Job (or any heist movie, although most of them would need to be greatly simplified), etc. A lot of movies can be reworked into adventure ideas fairly easily...the challenge is matching the ideas to your campaign.

Okay, so if you turned the Italian Job into a SW Adventure, what would you use in place of the Minis? HAHA!

If it was a fringer party, Z-95s or T-16s if it was dirtside based.

Or maybe the T-47?

In completely unrelated news, I've been promoted to ensign! Woohoo!

Guys...I thought the choice was obvious. Ubrikkian 9000 Z004 landspeeders would be the equivalent of our modern Mini Coopers.

I borrow a lot from Anime films: Macross, Mobile Suit Gundam, & Silent Mobius are good for starters.

Cowboy Bebop is also good from the Anime lineup. I've also used movies like The Returner; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; and believe it or not Xanadu as parts of a campaign. Of cource I merge movie concepts and other ideas so Xanadu was a Force induced fantasy turned into a nightmare. I always borrow bits and pieces from TV and movies and merge them into a completely new concept.

I am definitely not a fan of anime, but I do find myself taking stuff from other movies and or books Smile

Sometimes I even take stuff from past adventures that the group has done Smile

I've given some thought to putting some of Dumas' works in the Tapani Sector. With slight alterations, they could very well work. Granted, that's literature, not movies, but they did make films of some of his more famous works.
