Has anyone come up with any unique ideas for starship modifications?
I'm currently forming an online Sim that takes place acouple of months following the Battle of Endor. Since we’ve established that directly following Endor, most of the heavy capital ships on either side would have migrated to the Core regions. With that in mind we’re going to initially limit either side of a small number of heavy cruisers and instead place a heavy emphasis on the smaller cruisers, frigates and corvettes.
With the void left by the absence of heavy cruisers, the smaller ships will have to adapt to their new roles. With that in mind, I'm to come up with some sort of modification system; rewards for those smaller vessels that survive battles. We’re encouraging ingenuity, resourcefulness and cunning here.
Anyone have any homebrew rules for this? |

Something I've never stat'd out, but wanted to use at some point, is to include bays for droids that can crawl around on the hull of a ship, to perform minnor repairs, repell borders (and droid warheads like we see in Ep III), and take shots at enemy ships (perhaps speeder scale?). _________________ Science is organized knowldge, wisdom is organized life

I actually had a ship in a campaign called "The Velvet Olive" and it was a luxury transport that specified in Interstellar core world cruise parties. It was basically a Nightclub/Casino/Hotel with a hyper drive. |

Well, we had the "B.O.B.". It stood for "Big Ootean Battleship", Oota being our insane Rodian Bounty Hunter with more Guns than Rebel Allilance Logistics.
"Ootean" became a term to mean slightly more than heavily armed. |

ok this is probably the best place to put this. my bounty-hunter group finally made enough cash to get their ship (a small freighter) out of impound. so far in my campaign i've been a little stingy on the cash front (accordig to my players) so i decided to throw them a bone. a corellian corvette bone. for the past several game sessions it has been the personal playground of the pack-rat squib. he re-fit the bridge with holo-projectors in each workstation and reconfigured the stations so that they were all facing each other and could help each other in operating the ship. it took a lot of time and quite a few skill rolls but this was the first "mostly" original idea my player came up with so i encouraged it. what do you think? |

I once had a group that welded the upper half of a Local police droid to the rear of their frieghter. Basically all it was, was a droid head, chest and one arm with blaster welded to the hand... It was mounted above the cargo doors and programed to give basic cover fire when the players were being attacked. That stupid thing saved the group on more than one occasion as they retreated to the ship... |

Wow, the rest of my B.O.B. post didn't go through.
It is a Mobquet Medium Freighter. Go take a look at it online. OK, now, we filled in the spaces with milspec hull plating, weaponry, gutted the rest, weaponry, re-enforced everything, weaponry, additional fusion power generators, weaponry, "Matrix Room", weaponry, Bowling alley, weaponry, wading pool with view of the stars, weaponry, almost olympic-sized swimming pool, internal weaponry, droid storeage and maintence, hideaway spots for small arms, and, finally, the garage for the armoured 'Pulsor-Limo and Crunch's Swoop.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some items... |

No, got all those. The GM finally said, "OK, you've maxed out of energy useage." "Damn, more generators?" "The Electrical Techs look at you in horror at the idea."

A gm i had in england had this cool program where you could map out the power generation and usage of all your systems, so you would know exactly how much extra stuff you could add... _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

Ya, we just had a fast and loose system. I think it was the hull-mounted E-Webs that finally broke the system.
Well, we needed them to clear a LZ if it was "Enjoyable" (Our word for "Hot" ) |

Nothing wrong with that. That hidden laser cannon on the Falcon basically serves the same purpose. It does 4D damage instead of 8, but it's speeder scale, not character scale like the E-Web. I wouldn't have had a problem with something like that, all our ships had those installed as well. _________________ Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid. |

I had one installed on my characters A-wing. It fired backward, mainly there as shock value for dogfights. _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"
