magic is it's own "attribute" that increases similar to other attributes but with no limit to how high it can go. the major difference is the spells, there are several pages describing how to figure out how effective the spell is and how many cp's they cost. i can try to write the gist of spells soon, when i get my book back in a few days. |

If you want to put it in a .DOC or a .PDF, I can host it on my site if there are a few pages of material. just let me know _________________ The Vong have Arrived

Seems like a similar and compatible idea to what I pulled together here. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Looking at the books now...
all their "Extranormal" (i.e. Psionics, Metaphysics, Magic, etc) are the stats. The specific areas under them (varies depending on which system) are treated as skills, in essence. So you can raise the stat @ a cost of 10 times the number before the D... or the skill for 2x the number before the D (w/ a teacher, twice that w/out)
Figuring spells is a bit more complicated than Force skills - which are already laid out. You have to figure what you want to do, how big of an area, range, etc... all those increase difficulty (except range: touch, which is a -2)
If using any of these, you can increase your skill bonus by adding a focus (depending on how common the focus is - from, say, a rock you bend over and pick up right then, to the cowl of a long dead Sith Lord), by adding gestures (pointing v. handwaving), to incantations, etc...
That's a very basic overview...
It's comparable to SWD6, but think of it as adding a "Force" attribute, where Control, Sense, & Alter are the skills...
By way of example, here's a spell Nerdron posted to the WEG Forum:
Name: Fireburst
Skill Used: Conjuration
Difficulty: 20
Effect: 15 (5D Damage)
Range: 8 (14/27/40 meters)
Speed: +8
Duration: 2.5 seconds (+2)
Casting Time: 1 round (-4)
Other Aspects:
Area Effect (15): 3 meter radius
Gestures: (-2): Mime throwing a ball
Incantation (-2): “Burn in the flames of power!” (Sentence)
The caster calls into being a burst of flames that covers a 3 meter area. A marksmanship roll is required to aim the attack. If the marksmanship roll fails the Fireburt will hit something or someone else nearby. The GM can aim the burst based on the amount the roll failed by, or roll 1D for direction and 1D for distance in meters. _________________ "Love like you will die tomorrow. I've read over it, and it's not a bad magic system. It's a bit clunkier than the Force powers IMHO, but that may be because I'm so darn used to doing Force powers. |
