I still wouldn't have done any more than allow him to be force sensitve though |
How's about this then.
Fe'porian. (minotaurian race)
Height - 2.8 to 3-7 meters
Weight - 240lb +5d6.
Age - base 14 +2d6. Max 60.
Dex - 2d+2 - 4d+2
Know - 1d+2 - 3d+2
Mech - 1d - 3d
Per - 2d - 4d
Str - 2d+1 - 4d+1
Tech - 2d - 4d
Species description. The Fe'porians look like humanoid bulls. While their 'arms' can be used as forelimbs for walking on all 4's they are more akin to arms, than legs. Though they do have opposing thumbs, making them capable of grasping weapons, their hand and finger/thumb size makes using most blaster/firearm weaponry hard. This requires a rework on the weapon, to change it's handgrip and trigger area.
Species specific benefits/penalties:
Scent- due to the 'bovine' heightened sense of smell, the Fe'ponians gain +1d on perception checks involving smell
Sight- due to the 'bovine' lack of depth perception, Fe'ponians sufer -1d from all sight based perception checks.
Technological inferioirty complex- due to superstitions and naturalistic ways, they cannot specialise in any 'space age' skills until they have at least 7d in the base skill to show 'familiarity with that tech. In addition, they don't start game play knowing any space based skills. They must learn them.
Primitive affulence- linked to the above, they excell in use/picking up of natural skills, such as botany, languages, medicine/first aid, agriculture, survival. AS such, they gain 2d for every 1d placed into any such skill during character creation.
Head horns- their horns that decorate their heads can be used in melee. They do str+1d+1 damage, use brawl as the skill, and default to a diff of 10 (vice brawl's normal 5 diff). If used as part of a charge, the diff goes to 15, but the damage increases to str+2d+2. _________________ Confucious sayeth, don't wash cat while drunk! |

he wants to play a jedi-wannabe... complete w/ lightsaber... but, he wants it to be a STUN saber... or rather, dual-phase saber... regular and stun... I told him regular for now... if/when he can and is able to make his own, he can do that...[/quote]
In my experience anyone who wants to start with a dual stun/normal damage lightsaber have read the rules and don't want to cut there own arm off. Every thing you say points to a munchkin to me. My rule of gaming is if I think your making something for the roleplay aspect I'll allow it if your doing it for the power no way. |

I was running a smuggler type game ... slowly working them into the rebellion ... he decided that he didn't want to play, because he didn't see where it was going, and wanted to be a "hero"... not just a hired merc/smuggler. _________________ "Love like you will die tomorrow. I just read the majority of that blog, and OH MY GOD!! Does he bring these 'beliefs' into the games? And if so, how do you put up with it? _________________ "I take orders from just one person: Me!"

It is Physically impossible for someone who isn't force sensitve to construct a lightsaber becuase a jedi needs to go through some crazy lon ritual that bonds all the parts together at a molecular level to make it work.
But using a stun saber would be best because giving a non force user a light saber means if they fail, they cut there limbs off.

No, it's impossible for someone without the Force to make a good lightsaber. The lightfoil of the Taipani are one such example. _________________ Hotaru no Hishou; a messageboard about games, friends and nothing at all.

Thankfully, this belief system of his doesn't really play into the games - he generally shuts up and just sits back.
He always wants to play a large, mean looking, highly intimidating character... that does stun damage... Stun damage only goes so far...
"I only did STUN damage..."
"You did 20D of stun damage... you stunned the poor guy's system into shutting down!"

Actually, he's something like 25 or so... sadly, he wants to teach History. I feel sorry for his students.
A little background: the basis of the start of the discussion was he and I getting into a discussion of kender (Halflings of Dragonlance D&D)of all things...
He said that Kender are all fearless and innocent ... I reminded him of the "afflicted" kender - the ones that watched Kendermore be destroyed - were no longer innocent, and were really shellshocked. He stated that they were no longer "Kender"... and that's how it all started...
As for gaming... well, he's decided that he doesn't like my gaming style, so I haven't had to deal with him lately... _________________ "Love like you will die tomorrow. Hate like you will live forever." - Unknown |

I say let him have the large character. But in order to encourage roleplaying, every time the character enters a building or a ship, the player must cramp himself into a very small box, and play from there.

LOL that's actually a very creative idea! If I ever run into this situation, I'm going to use it _________________ "Could someone please Jury-Rig my Wookiee?!"

I think it reflects a basic part of roleplaying. Most people have no motivation to play out their character's weaknesses. Certainly, being as tall as most diving wells are deep is going to have an impact on the way you feel about your environment. I'm guessing that there is no way that this guy is going to play that out.
If he was really being true to his character, he would be grumbling about needing a bigger ship every twenty minutes, no bar owner would let him in, and his sneak or disguise rolls would be nearly worthless. This guy is bigger than a Wampa! |

Seriously what the heck! He's taken one logical idea (by defining how something is classified you can then determine what you include in the classifications) and twisted it beyond all usability.
I think you're better off without such a player in your group. _________________ Don't waste money on expensive binoculars.
